In FL Studio, does a send receive the signal before or after the source channel's effects?

I'm trying to understand exactly how sends work in FL Studio.

For example, let's say I have a vocal on Insert 1 with an EQ, compressor, saturation, etc. Then I route/send that vocal to Insert 2, where I put a reverb for parallel processing.

My question is: what exactly is being sent to Insert 2?

Does the send receive the vocal after all the effects on Insert 1, meaning the reverb is processing the already EQ'd/compressed/saturated vocal?

Or does it receive the original signal before the effects on Insert 1?

And if the send is taken from a specific point in the signal chain, is there a way to change that point? For example, can I choose whether the send receives the signal before or after the plugins on the original channel? Is there a way in FL Studio to make a send pre-effects or post-effects?

Basically, I'm trying to understand exactly where in the signal flow the send is taken from in FL Studio, and whether I have any control over this.

I know this might be obvious, but I want to understand the signal flow properly rather than just blindly using sends.

23F — severe chest/rib pain for 6+ months. Could this be costochondritis?

Hi everyone. My girlfriend is 23, 1.69 m and around 65 kg. She has been dealing with recurrent chest and rib pain since February.

The left side is much worse, particularly the lower left chest and left ribs. She can also get pain on the right side, but it is usually much milder.

During bad episodes the pain can become very strong and can spread toward the ribs and left arm. Afterwards she feels extremely exhausted.

Doctors have mainly told her that the symptoms are probably anxiety, but we are wondering whether this could instead be something like costochondritis or another form of chest-wall pain.

For people who have actually been diagnosed with costochondritis:

Does this distribution of pain sound familiar?

Does your pain affect the lower ribs as well as the area next to the sternum?

Does your pain radiate into your arm?

Is your pain reproducible when you press on certain ribs/chest areas?

Does movement, stretching, deep breathing or changing position make it worse?

How was your costochondritis actually diagnosed?

We know nobody here can diagnose her, but we would really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced something similar and what ultimately helped them get a proper diagnosis.

Thanks.

Is it a bad idea to lower the dry signal of my main vocal?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to ask about my vocal mixing workflow. I know everyone has their own way of doing things, but I'm curious about what more experienced engineers think.

For my main vocals, I usually do all the corrective processing first (EQ, de-esser, compression, etc.). After that, I send the vocal to another channel where I add the creative effects.

From that channel, I send the signal to two separate buses:

One bus keeps the dry vocal.

The other is a 100% wet parallel reverb.

Most of the time I keep the dry vocal up, but sometimes, if I want the vocal to feel more drowned, distant, or pushed further back in the mix, I'll lower the dry signal instead of only increasing the reverb. I like the effect, but I'm wondering if this is actually considered good practice or if there are better ways to achieve the same result.

Would it generally be better to keep the dry vocal at 100% and only adjust the amount of reverb using the send/fader? Or is reducing the dry signal a perfectly valid creative approach if it gets the sound I'm after?

I'd love to hear how you guys would approach this.

25M with 10 months of severe fatigue, dizziness, brain fog, dissociation, intermittent weakness and burning sensations after respiratory infection

Body:

25M, 177 cm, 77 kg, Spain.

I’ve been dealing with disabling symptoms for about 10 months and I’m trying to understand whether this could be post-infectious, neurological, autonomic, or something else.

Timeline

\- \~10 months ago: I had a strong respiratory infection/cold that lasted unusually long.

\- After that, a throat culture reportedly showed Staphylococcus and Neisseria meningitidis, and I was treated with antibiotics.

\- Since then, I have never fully recovered.

Main symptoms

\- Severe fatigue (the most disabling symptom)

\- Dizziness / lightheadedness

\- Feeling unstable when walking

\- Sensation that my legs lose strength, although I can usually still walk

\- Brain fog

\- Dissociation / derealization

\- Intermittent burning sensations in different body areas, including sometimes the face

\- Occasional muscle twitching/vibrations

\- Episodes where I feel close to fainting (I have never actually lost consciousness)

\- Intermittent blurred or "weird" vision

\- One period of a few days where my right eye felt sore/painful, but I did not have a clear loss of vision

Symptoms I do NOT have

\- No known seizures

\- No persistent double vision

\- No clear paralysis

\- No complete loss of vision in one eye

\- No bowel/bladder incontinence

Relevant tests

\- Echocardiogram: reportedly normal

\- Chest X-ray: normal

\- Blood tests: notable for very low vitamin D (7.6 ng/mL)

\- I have been taking vitamin D supplementation.

Additional context

Heat, lack of sleep, alcohol, and physical exertion seem to make the symptoms worse. The symptoms fluctuate a lot from day to day.

I’m currently considering paying for a brain MRI privately because the waiting time in the public system is very long.

My question: Based on this pattern (post-infectious onset, fatigue, instability, brain fog, dissociation, intermittent burning sensations and subjective weakness), what diagnoses would you consider most likely, and would a brain MRI and/or cervical spine MRI be a reasonable next step?
