Helping a friend diagnose/repair their ATV (Suzuki King Quad 750 AXI 4x4; around 2012 model year, 12500km, 8500hrs)

It seems to have reduced power in high going forward and when shifted into reverse and throttle is applied, it sputters and semms to hardly engages.

I've changed the drive belt and spark plug have been replaced (because thats what it sounded like to me), but it didn't help.

The machine isn't throwing any codes, it doesn't have a limp mode switch in the belt case and timing looked acceptable (both in forward and reverse with timing light)

I noticed when shifted into reverse and throttle is applied that the shifter moves, so I'm not sure if its a linkage issue/adjustment

Looking for any ideas to check and help them out.
