Just walked by an obese ED patient in a hallway bed that was only wearing a diaper, literally hanging off the rail. What I smelled walking by was something else. I feel bad but I can’t even describe it to do it justice, the BO plus that musty yeasty diabetes fungal odor was almost noxious.

Usually I’m okay with smells but this one just hit different.

What’s the worst thing you’ve smelled on rotations?

Just finished seeing 19 patients in our group for a total of 4.5hrs, and thought I was dying.

What’s the longest time you’ve spent rounding as a med student?

Hey yall. Starting my biannual playthrough of the trilogy and trying to make it more interesting. I’ve done the whole paragon and save everyone path many times but this time I want something different. I’m trying to be more renegade and I’ve never played as a sentinel so I’m doing that.

But I’m wondering what are some of the more interesting decisions you’ve made in the trilogy? For instance, I’ve typically always chosen to save the Rachni queen because I know the benefits later on, but I’m trying to RP more and not sure if this Shepard would. I also wouldn’t mind having some characters die but I know it opens up more interesting stuff if they’re all kept around.

My plan for romance would be Ashley in 1. Miranda in 2 since Ashley hates you for joining Cerberus and dumps you, and then Liara in 3 because I feel like the time capsule thing is better if you’re in a relationship with her. But I’ve also heard that you can save Miranda in 3 if you don’t break it off before locking in with another.

So I’m a rising fourth med student at a DO school who’s currently applying for Sub-I and Away rotations for a pretty competitive specialty. And some of my close friends are also applying to the same specialty. They are seeming to get a lot of rotations secured at places I really want to do residency, while I’m left ghosted or rejected. I’m submitting vslo apps on the day they open just to be left hanging, and I have 120+ still pending on vslo. I’ve reached out to PDs and residents for programs I’m interested in and nothing seems to come from it.

I know this whole process is an inherently competitive game, like we are literally fighting for the same spots. And I’m happy for them, don’t get me wrong, they definitely deserve those spots. I also don’t know how many rejections they’ve faced as well, only from what they’re sharing. But why do I feel my worth is attached to these apps. Like put me in the game coach I can make a play too.

I’m not the smartest student, and I like to think I make up for that with my persistence, drive and people skills, but I feel my worth tanking after not being given a shot. And I understand that it’s not really like that, and I shouldn’t take it as any sort of validation or a judge of character, it just feels like it when residency is on the line.

I’m trying to stay positive but it’s hard when I don’t even have my next semester organized and it’s May.

It seems every time I end up having a fighter I actually like, they end up getting smoked.

It all started with Tony Ferguson (CSO 🐢🌳🗣️DJSpinThatShit #TheItalianJob). Seeing his performance against Pettis was my very first PPV and instantly I was a fan. He was supposed to be the one to take Khabib, but then he got destroyed by Gaejthe and was never the same.

Then it was Rob vs Izzy. Till vs Masvidal. Kattar vs Holloway. Charles vs Islam. Jiri vs Pereira 1. Volk vs Topuria.

I enjoy Prates and all he does, but I was pulling for JDM after getting mogged by Islam. I got suckered in once again. But that’s the way the cookie crumbles in this game. I’ve given up trying to invest in fighters only to see them get brutalized or left unconscious on the mat. I’m not a fan of fighters anymore, just the game.
