Foggy night, low visibility. We spotted a single light hovering in the distance near a naval base, glowing, rotating slowly, almost sweeping like it was scanning for something. No sound, no blinking nav lights like a chopper would have.

We only had it for a minute or two before the fog covered

I still think about it. The way it moved felt patient and deliberate, not like any aircraft I’ve seen. Anyone else seen something like this near a coastal base? Curious if this is a known thing or if I just got lucky (or unlucky) with timing.
