I recently discovered Haken after it has been described as Sleep Token's little brother. Only listened to the newest album which is indeed right up my alley.
Where do I go next?
I wish I could join the enthusiasm of a new release. Haken is my favorite band by far.
Never listened to a band so consistently over the years, never skipped a concert of theirs in my town. Always appreciated the new musical experimentations.
But this EP just causes me disappointment and frustration.
I just don't understand what led to these artistic decisions.
Across the board it just feels like Haken is trying to join the cool kids at the cost of their authenticity.
As if Ross was ashamed of his unique voice and is hiding behind a wall of effects.
As if at every turn, they weighed their true musical ideas against what is marketable and profitable.
As if this EP might be the reason why Charlie and Connor decided to quit.
This is not hate, this is a confused fan that for the first time in these 16 years doesn't enjoy the music.
I checked flights and the affordable ones go to:
Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hongkong, Chongqing, Qingdao.
I would've liked Xian, Kunming or Chengdu but they were out of my price range.
I like nature hikes, old historical buildings but also getting a taste for what modern china is all about.
