I’ve been in hospitality for almost 3 decades. Covid forced me out of the w2 world and I’ve been consulting since. I don’t love it and am looking to get back into the main industry.

My direct experience doesn’t have any high level management or director roles but, I’m beyond qualified for something like F&B manager or director with my consulting experience.

Before Covid I had a couple that I was well connected with. We spent some time outside of work on multiple occasions and they came to several of my jobs as guests to see me. I have both their phone numbers.

He is a Vice President of F&B for a large global Hotel company. I’m preparing my resume for an F&B director at this company. I’m not looking for a “favor” per se, but would it be appropriate to send him a text or a LinkedIn message saying;

“Hey, Joe here! I’m back in town and just applied for the Director of F&B role at XYZ hotel Co. Wanted to reconnect and let you know I’m genuinely excited about what XYZ is building. Hope you and your wife are well.”

Not trying to get a favor just leverage to maybe move the resume further up for the direct hiring process.

Any guidance would be appreciated!
