Tig welding Damascus?
What happens when a bladesmith and a welder get married? 😂
We’re trying to find out if we can use a tug torch to force manipulation of the pattern on a forged Damascus knife
The idea is that if we get the right penetration (giggedy) we should be able to at least shift the steels around enough that it could create a sort of mirage effect or even distinct patterning when it’s ground and etched. I have no idea, we’ve never attempted this 😂
The knife is ~300 layers of 1084, 15n20, and procut. The pattern is random, and I’ve added steel along the way and made sure to keep the blocks different sizes for restacks (to keep patterning more varied).
We did the welding after forging but before profiling or heat treating. Stay tuned to see how it works 🤙🏻

I recently did a custom chef knife for a local fine dining chef and fellow USMC vet, so obviously I had to make a 1775 layer billet. I had enough left to make this little paring knife. I’m thinking African Blackwood for the handle, what do yall think?

Just a little stainless go mai 10” hollow ground bonding knife, I’m thinking a bog oak handle but what do yall think?
This is what a 72” radius platen to a zero edge will do. Performance is insane, it just glides through even the toughest foods.
When I forge a chef knife, I’m not just making a tool, I’m making a promise.
A promise that I’ve put as much thoughtfulness and artistry into the knife as you do in your cooking to make your knife feel like an extension of your hand.
A promise that when shit hits the fan in the kitchen, your knife will be the one thing that never fails you.
The balance, sharpness, the design, every detail all come together to form a pledge of reliability in the kitchen.
That’s why I love making knives for chefs. It’s more than a purchase, it’s a statement of trust in my craft.
Got a commission from a local chef for a random pattern Damascus chef knife. Come to find out he’s a fellow Marine vet, so obviously I had to make it 1775 layers 😬🖍️
This one was fun as hell. The billet is 3 pieces of cable Damascus, 2 pieces of crushed W’s, and the strip you see in the center is made from WW2 production M1 Garand barrels that were filled with 15n20, forged down, and twisted.
I layered these pieces up and bias forged them to create the pattern you see here
The bevels were ground on a 72” radius platen to a zero edge, with a touch of brute de forge left as an accent.
The handle is black and white ebony and mosaic pins with coke bottle contouring
This and others will be available at Blade Show Atlanta, table 20-S
