dumb vpn question

is there a difference between machines x vpn and the machines vpns under the seasonal banner? picture below for reference. notice it says I'm connected to machines 1, but also says i'm not connected to machines 1 under seasonal. I've been using the ovpn file downloaded from seasonal but it never says I'm connected and I can never ping the latest machine. ugh. I'm an idiot. You would think an IT professional would know.

Electrical Engineering - am I cooked?

Hello all,

I want to pursue a bachelor's in electrical engineering. I'll be graduating with an associate's degree in an unrelated field this winter (computer information systems). This should cover all of my gen eds through the Michigan transfer agreement. Here's the issue: I work full time to support myself and my girlfriend. I absolutely won't be able to drop everything to pursue my education full time. Is it at all possible to get an EE degree in a reasonable timeframe while working full time? Or is it a pipe dream?

How satisfied are you with the degree…

Hello everyone - I’m a current IT professional (system administration) and aspiring cybersecurity red teamer. Because of the highly theoretical and technical nature of red teaming, I feel that I’d be better served by a CS degree than a cybersecurity degree, although my associates degree would transfer considerably more credits into the cyber program. I’m hoping to get some feedback on how those of you who’ve graduated from the program feel about the degree from a knowledge-gained perspective, not just a career-impact perspective. Do you feel the degree is comparable to traditional 4-year comp sci degrees? Did it prepare you to work in a related field? How were the math classes? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Resume Review

Hello all - I'm a sysadmin with 5+ years of experience trying to break into DoD Security (CMMC). I was first introduced to it through a student of mine (I'm a BJJ instructor), who recently sold his company doing third party CMMC compliance consultation. I have experience in compliance through overseeing CPA clients' FTC Safeguards programs, and I've done tons of self-study on CMMC. I was hoping somebody could give me honest feedback on my resume for CMMC roles. If you're willing, please shoot me a private message. Thanks!

Transfer credit question

I’m currently finishing my AAS in cybersecurity and plan to get my BS from WGU after. I plan on transferring credits both from my AAS and study.com/sophia credits which I haven’t yet obtained. Here’s my problem: I don’t know exactly which courses my AAS will cover, so I don’t know if I’ll need to take the associated study.com or Sophia course for those yet. How do I go about figuring this out without actually applying and starting my degree? Can I talk to a counselor before starting to see what will be covered by AAS? Do I apply and just set the start date months ahead, then transfer in the study.com/sophia credits after identifying? What is the process here?

Is the doom noise?

Hello all - I’ve been working towards a career in cybersecurity since 2022 now - by mid next year, I’ll have 5+ years of experience as help desk + sysadmin now, industry standard certs like a+, net+, sec+, server+, ccna, and some more vendor specific certs (some of which are security related). I have an associates degree in cyber and will be graduating with my bachelor’s next year. Is it really possible that I’ll be unable to find a job in cyber? I see posts everyday discouraging people from starting their journey, people explaining why they switched majors, etc. and it worries me after all the hard work I put in to try and make a better life for myself and my family… would be nice to see something positive for a change.

CPTS…

Regardless of people’s qualms with the various modules, this course is incredible and affordable. I wish I had more time in the day to work through it. I pray I can do this as a career one day…

CDSA or CPTS

Hey all,

I'm a sysadmin with 5yoe in IT looking to pivot into security. I already do a fair bit of security as a sysadmin at a small (2-person) MSP - most notably have developed, overseen and maintained ftc safeguard compliance for cpa clients, identified real-time attacks and handled incident response, etc. I also have an associates degree in cyber and plan on getting a bachelor's in networking from WGU in the near-future.

My passion is penetration testing. I'm not great (yet) but enjoy completing machines on htb and participating in ctfs where i can. I'm wondering if someone with my background could feasibly break into red team/pen testing as a career without first getting an analyst/blue team role.

I've started both the Pen tester and SOC analyst job role paths and wouldn't mind doing either one if it meant I had a decent chance of breaking in to the field.

What do you guys think? There's so much doom and gloom surrounding the market, it demotivates me from studying at all sometimes... Thanks in advance
