Important Updates for Disney+ Malaysia's Global Unified App Version
HAHAHA, now I can smile and breathe a sigh of relief because I finally found out the REAL STORY and REASON why Malaysia is getting the global version of the Disney+ app LAST.
Do you still remember the ContentAsia digital magazine issue from last month or two months ago? There was an article titled "Disney+ Asia streaming reorganization." In that article, it stated that Disney executives were reshuffled and organized by individual countries within the Southeast Asia region, rather than for Southeast Asia as a whole. I still remember reading that Malaysia and Singapore received a new executive from Hong Kong, while they were still looking for new Disney executives for Indonesia and several other countries.
My question is: why do you think only our country and Singapore received the same executive from Hong Kong? The answer is simple: it's because these two countries, Hong Kong and Singapore, get easy access to the ESPN hub within the Disney+ app itself. This differs from South Africa, where their executives agreed on a deal with U.S. Disney executives to include the ESPN hub in their Disney+ app.
So long story short, it's very likely that for the global version of the Disney+ app in Malaysia, we will get the SAME ESPN hub just like Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and South Africa. That's why I think other Southeast Asian countries received it EARLIER than us—because they don't have the ESPN hub like Singapore does.
Besides, just look at the email screenshots on Reddit that people in Indonesia received versus people in South Africa. If you compare them, it's like night and day, heaven and earth, hahaha.
So if my prediction turns out to be right, maybe the global version of the Disney+ app for our country will be MORE EXCLUSIVE and THE MOST WOW among the other Southeast Asian countries because it will feature the ESPN hub included alongside the other 6 brands: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, AND Hulu. Do you agree?
