Anyone else that had frequent sleep paralysis prior to getting into Astral projecting?

I ask this as someone that has previously suffered from both this and bouts of insomnia for the past 7-years and so-forth, I’d almost always find myself waking up paralyzed in the middle of the night or when drifting off to sleep on a near weekly basis and use to dread getting this. It feels strange because having only had a month of my encounters into the world of AP has my entire perspective on sleep paralysis completely shifted (still working on achieving a proper experience; Been using the Gateway Tapes and incorporating meditation into my daily life and have had some notable instances that unfortunately lasted only a few seconds).

Notably though, it feels as if this was secretly a blessing in disguise that I’ve only now begun to tap into, and it’s subsequently an experience that I’ve very-quickly come to repress my prior fears on (which has improved my quality of sleep). Especially when it comes to easing into Astral Projecting, I feel that I’m generally more "prepared" in terms of confrontation and expectations. Stuff like visual hallucinations, sounds, the whole part with vibrations (that I’ve already gotten and noticed significantly intensified over the past week whenever I listen to the Gateway Tapes during an afternoon nap), all of these seem to phase me much less than I’d ever thought would had I never had to deal with them from frequent SP in the first place. It makes me feel more excited knowing that all along this could be something I can use in favor of projecting, and makes me want to experiment more, though I can’t help but ask if anyone else with a similar background relates to this?
