Creating a low-buy process for myself

I’d like to try setting some rules/rewards for myself to stop consuming so much. I’m thinking about only allowing myself to purchase ONE thing if I consistently go to the gym for 2 weeks 3 days a week.

My body has changed over the past 2 years and I’m finding that clothing and even shoes don’t fit like they used to. I could use these changes as an excuse to buy a whole new wardrobe, but that makes me so anxious that I’ll have an expensive 2026-era wardrobe for years to come. I don’t want to buy my clothes and shoes all at once, but I understand that I will need some replacements soon.

The gym isn’t to change my body in any way, I just realized that if I want to still be walking when I’m 85 I need to lift heavy things!

Anyway, posting this to ask if anyone has done/is doing something similar, and how to manage lowbuy/ nobuy when half your clothes don’t fit anymore. Thanks!

New leather smells bad?

I bought a bifold leather cover off Etsy and it’s gorgeous but the smell is so off putting to me. The package was a little wet when I received it but I don’t think it did too much damage. I can’t remember my other leather goods smelling like this. I can’t lay it in the sun because it’s super humid where I live. I gave it a little wash with a tiny bit of Castile soap but I don’t think it’s helped. I don’t know what exactly is bothering me about it, but if it helps to paint a picture, I’m the kind of person who hates new car smell, and this is a similar nauseating sort of smell.

Any tips to get the smell out? Do I just need to use it a bunch?

A6 Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter or Bible size Plotter?

I’m looking for a notebook system I can take with me everywhere. I plan to have a blank insert for ideas, sketches, etc and eventually a planner for next year. I’m caught between the A6 roterfaden and bible plotter. I have an A5 taschenbegleiter now and that thing is FAT. I cannot bring it with me anywhere.

The pros of the roterfaden are: I can use other company’s notebook inserts (like midori and hobonichi), it can hold more than the plotter, easier to write on the left side, and I like the idea of storing journals instead of pieces of paper. The pros of the plotter: I’d be trying something new, I can rearrange the pages, and it’ll have to be more lightweight/portable.

What do you guys think? Do you have a preference? Open to other systems too, these just seem the most up my alley. Thanks!!
