Rosemary Mosco made a fun comic of Northern Cardinals molting giving them the metal AF name blöödchëëp. Seeing some molting crows today made me think they deserve a fun name, too. Here's my take in gouache along with a few alternative names and crows I saw today that inspired this. Enjoy!
Saw a bunch of molting crows that reminded me of the silly Northern Cardinal bloodcheep comic. Decided to try my hand at some metal AF crows. Included are also a few alternative names and some photos of the crazy molting. Enjoy!
Plants are from an area where I'm learning to do bird banding. the birds are nearby where we live - double crested cormorants! And still with chicks!
Have been using tins for recipes (mostly sardine pasta with breadcrumbs and capers), but have more recently been appreciating the art more. Trying to document some of the cool can art, initial opening/interior, and provide some notes to remind me of what's tasty. Enjoy!
