I am house/dog-sitting for a family who will be gone for almost two weeks. Their dog is three-years-old and a big sweetheart. She is crate-trained, but every time I try to put her in the crate, she avoids it like the plague. I've been luring her into it with treats, but when I move away, she starts whining and barking. I took her out to go potty, but she kept doing it afterward. Looking it up, I think she might be having separation anxiety. I've never petsat a dog who is crate-trained before, or one who is a larger dog. The other dog I watch is smaller and can be soothed with the TV on and snuggles. This dog isn't near the TV, and their crate is too big to move. Any advice?
