i 29m am seeking some advice on what i should do - i’m looking into a heloc for debt consolidation + a new roof. i’m making 85k before taxes, 13k on credit, and estimated about 15k for a full tear off and plywood. (no quotes yet)

i’ve worked my debt down from 17k but the roof cannot wait any longer. i feel trapped, don’t want to sell but i have about 180k in total equity, not enough in liquid to cover a roof or debt payoff outright.

appreciate any guidance, im on a path of financial literacy after never having any my entire life.

HELP! New night shifter

Hello fellow night shifters!

i’m not entirely new to night shift, but i did start a permanent position as such. I work in IT so there’s a ton of downtime unless there’s a fire. Previously i’ve done shift rotations but i’m here to seek advice from all of you.

i’m working 4-10 hour shifts 10pm to 9 am, thurs-sun. i have 2 little ones and i keep reading how night shifters have a reduced life expectancy and it’s giving me a ton of anxiety. i typically will fall asleep anywhere from 930 to 1030 and wake up around 430 pm. on my first day off i will take a 4 hour nap and be awake for the rest of the day and i can usually fall asleep around 10pm and sleep through the night. The other 2 days i’m off i sleep on day shift hours and the Thursday i work ill wake up earlier and get a good 4 hour nap in before shift.

for eating i typically will eat breakfast around 8am when wfh, normal meals with the fam at dinner and then limit coffee and other snacks to a hard cutoff of 12am. if i get hungry in the latter half of my shift, ill resort to fruit or some sort of high protein shake or snack.

what tips do you have for me to improve or set some healthy lifestyle habits as a newer permanent night shifter, is my current habit bad? overall i feel this has helped
