Angelini Family Names

Ok, so I've always noticed that the members of the Angelini family are named after angels, but never really cared to look into their meanings until Raphael himself called Gabriel the Archangel of Revelation in this week's episode, ep. 109.

Here are the meanings and the affiliation of the names of the names of the main members of the Angelini family:

Gabriel "God is my strong man" - Archangel of Revelation

Raphael "God heals" - Archangel of Healing

Azrael "God has helped" - Archangel of Death

Uriel "God is my light" - Archangel of Wisdom, Truth, and Prophecy.

Jophiel "Beauty of God" - Archangel of Beauty, Art, Craftsmanship, and Wisdom.

Mikey (Michele/Michael) "Who is like God?" - Leader of the Armies of God

Angelini - The family name means "Messenger of God"

Gabriel being named after the Archangel of Revelation makes a lot of sense given how Gabriel has seen how much being part of the Mafia has hurt himself, those around him, and how much it has already and will further hurt Mikey.

Having Raphael being named after the Archangel of Healing is probably the most antithetical one here. Raphael has poisoned everything around him. He has little regard for life, as seen when he told Gabriel to cut his losses after the failed sneak attack at the fashion show. And the cherry on top of his cake being that his righthand woman is a crazy doctor that hurts people.

Azrael being the Archangel of Death is both fitting and rather ironic. Azrael without looking into the facts killed off the entire Diavolo family and then himself died under mysterious circumstances.

We just learned that Uriel existed and know very little about him so I don't know how the attributes of his namesake applies to him.

We also just met Jophiel, but I'll make a guess on how she will be connected to her namesake. Pyromaniacs not only have an impulsive disorder to start fire, but also consider fire to be beautiful, so I am more convinced that she was somehow responsible for the fire during Gabriel's birthday party and will likely be responsible for a future fire.

Now for Mikey, the Archangel Michael is the leader of God's armies and the angel that struck down Lucifer during his rebellion. In a way this makes sense, while Mikey is not leading the group, everything the group is doing is for him so in a matter of speaking he is the leader of the group. I'll admit this might be a stretch.

I'll end this by point out that in Judeo-Christian lore Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel are seen as the main four archangels, while in Islam Uriel is replaced with Azrael. Looking for a significance in this I think the story is going with the Judeo-Christian version. Uriel founded the Angelini Mafia, Raphael is its current leader, Gabriel is trying to escape, and Mikey will (hopefully) live a life free of the mafia.

The MCs in The Egg Project are insufferable

I've seen Webtoon promote this story once in a while and a few days ago I decided to bite and binge read the series to its newest free episode (ep. 46). I can confidently say Riku and Cherry are two of the most insufferable MCs in any story I have read.

First of all, I find their dislike of each other as completely petty. They're high school seniors but act like kindergarteners. Why do they still talk to each other? Clearly their moms gave up on them being friends, Riku and Cherry hate each other, and have no mutual friends or hobbies. They could just grow up and ignore each other's existence.

As for their forced partnership they both understand they have to pass, Riko to keep his dad off his back and Cherry to graduate. Yet, they both ignore this most of the time. They have to do activities together with the egg to earn points but can't sit down together for more than a minute without fighting. They had a dumb argument about who would take the egg home on any given day, the most dumb part being Cherry saying he can't have the egg the days he has volleyball practice because the egg could get hurt... don't they have locker rooms???

Now the most annoying part is whenever one of them gives the other a genuine compliment or tries to have a heart-to-heart the other one either makes a joke out of it or insults the one giving the compliment/heart-to-heart. This makes the one giving the compliment/heart-to-heart mad, hypocritically mad because they do the exact same thing when the roles are reversed.

I also don't understand how Cherry developed a crush on Riku. Cherry hasn't realized he has a crush on Riku, but he clearly now does giving the blushing on awkward around Riku.

So yeah, I don't like these two characters or their relationship. If any fans of this series can tell me what I'm missing, I'm all ears.
