Government coming after one group of homeowners in South Africa

Government coming for your borehole, next will most probably be your fruit trees....

>Under the draft regulations, all borehole owners would need to capture their details and borehole information on the National Groundwater Archive.

>Anyone planning to drill a new borehole would first need to obtain a geosite identifier before drilling can begin.

>The regulations also require drillers and water users to submit drilling data within two months of completing a project.

>Additionally, anyone installing pumping equipment must provide yield test results and recommended sustainable abstraction rates before groundwater extraction begins.

>The department said tighter controls are necessary because groundwater reserves are increasingly under pressure.

Massive Internet problems in South Africa

If your internet has been giving issues since yesterday then read this article.... My own has been acting up since early Sunday and now it's hit and miss on whether you will see the page you're looking for or not.

>Internet users across South Africa are reporting connectivity problems and intermittent issues when accessing various online services.

>Top South African news websites such as BusinessTech and News24 experienced brief outages, with News24 returning 404 errors when attempting to visit its home page or read many articles.

>Users were also reporting intermittent issues with accessing the SARS eFiling platform and several other websites, locally and internationally. PSIRA’s website was also offline on Monday.

>Outage tracking service Downdetector showed a surge in problem reports from around 10:00 on 19 May 2026 across multiple platforms and infrastructure providers.

>The reports come as South African web hosting and Internet infrastructure providers face sustained distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against their networks.

>Xneelo was the latest to come under attack, reporting just after 09:00 that it was “currently experiencing network degradation, which is impacting our ability to support incoming queries.”

>Xneelo said its Control Panels and hosting services may be inaccessible during this time. “The team is aware and actively working on resolving the issue,” it said.

>At 10:00, Xneelo reported that it was still experiencing network degradation. It said its team was implementing mitigation measures to restore full service as quickly as possible.
