i dont buy the background doesnt matter argument anymore

can we talk about how everyone acts like cat is this neutral exam where "background doesnt matter just put in the hours"... bro have u actually looked at any years topper list. its engineers. overwhelmingly
not saying non engineers CANT crack it, obviously ppl do it every year. but the exam itself (specially DILR and half of QA) is testing pattern recognition n computational stuff that engineers get literal years of practice doing before they even start "cat prep." a commerce or arts background person is starting that exact skill from zero while an engineer is basically just refreshing muscle memory they already have
coaching institutes obviously never gonna say this out loud bcs "anyone can do it with enough practice" sells way better than "some ppl are starting 2 years behind on this one specific skill." but ask any non engineer whos actually done 2-3 attempts, most will tell u DILR felt like starting a whole new subject while for an engineer itll just be revising..
