Does adding a control mage to my champion pool outweighs the downsides of spreading my mastery and practice time tinner to cover some match ups?

Does adding a control mage to my pool outweighs the downsides of spreading my mastery tinner?

I play ahri and aurora, I just have too much fun with them and I climbed to emerald with them sprinkling the occasional champion to dodge what I would consider really bad match ups.

From here I'm wondering if it is better to continue to commit mostly to ahri and aurora or if I should select a control mage to cover bad match ups.

I mostly struggle into Viktor, orianna, Syndra and yasuo. I am not convinced I want to add a champion specifically for he yasuo match up but I was wondering if adding a control mage for the mage match up and stick to it would outweigh the downside of spreading my practice time tinner.

I don't think they are bad match ups but maybe it would help with stuff like hwei or xerath as well, as it turns into taking TP and bouncing waves no stop, so maybe a control mage would help to find gold advantages in these lanes.

I don't want to make the post too long so hopefully people will read it rather than replying to just the title.

Looking for advices to climb from emerald to diamond

Hi all,

I decided to take ranked seriously this season after a few seasons of barely touching it. I managed to climb from gold 4 to Emerald III in 2 months, which is my current pick.

I would like to try to make the push to diamond before the season ends.

So, i have a very general idea of what i want to do but i need some guidance. I climbed from Gold 4 to Emerald 3 using ahri, aurora and lux which they worked well for this part of the climb. Although i decided to take a small break even if i was in a good momentum to try to tackle a few issues.

This issues are mainly that i have been getting my 2nd role more often now that i reached Emerald compared to before as well as i've been thinking on reworking my champion pool now that i got my peak rank and feel happy with myself for the final push.

For the 2nd role i've been playing bot lane and enjoying Syndra there. I tried traditional ADCs, but i felt that their gameplay were too different from mages for it to be worth to invest the big amount of time required to learn their class specific mechanics as well as me lacking the mechanical prowess to pull off most of them.

My second issue is what is troubling me the most and that has to do with reworking my champion pool. So a few thoughts that have been living in my head are:

1 - Do i want to play both ahri and aurora as they feel fairly overlapping champions and dont seem to actually give me any meanfull draft advantage, i just enjoy them, but perhaps 1 needs to come out because of redundancy

2 - While the 3 of them worked well to get me to where i am now, i have been struggling a bit to carry games with lux as of lately, it could be because of my relative fast climb and i didnt had time to adapt it, but i'm struggling to land her skill shots as well as people are better ar counter playing her, with zhonyas, also people will buy mercs more often now, the other day i played vs a mordekaiser that had both mercs and rocketbelt, it felt kinda miserable, but again it may be that i didnt had time to reajust to the new skill level around me.

3 - I probably want a 2nd mage on bot lane to cover picks and bans, which leads to either keep lux in the pool with syndra and ahri/aurora for a 3 champion pool or learn a new mage that has a bit less counterplay that i havent decided yet

4 - I also i've been considering more and more later on playing just lets say ahri and syndra and eat the bullet and play ahri bot lane on my 2nd role games if syndra is unavaiable, which hopefully wouldnt represent many games and would allow me achieve maximum mastery on those 2 champions

Sorry if it was a bit long and thanks for reading this far. any inputs would be appreciated :)

How important is it to be proficient at a 2nd role in order to climb smoothly?

Hi,

I have been taking ranked more seriously this season, made my champion pool for my main role (mid) and I have successfully reached my pick at emerald 2 two weeks ago.

I have stopped playing ranked a bit as of lately because I have been putting a lot of thought into improving on a different role as the system asks the player to queue for 2 roles. At the moment I'm practicing mages in bot lane in normal games (I'm sorry but it was what I was already used to playing), also I had to choose different ones as I main ahri and aurora, and they aren't great on bot lane.

Because of bans I'm working on learning 2 champions there. Although I did notice an ever so slight under performance when I queued back mid nearly 2 weeks after, so I have been asking myself if it is a phase and once I get better and bot mages I can give mid more attention again and things gonna stabilise, and I will rip the rewards later on or if the whole thing of adding another role and 2 champions and another role will in the long term hurt my climb even knowing the system asks for 2 roles so I can't complain of I get the secondary one.

I basically just wanted to know, mainly for people above my current rank (emerald 2), is it beneficial for my long term climb to get good at the 2nd role I queue up in the client, or should I just try to be serviceable in the 2nd role and put all my eggs in the mid lane basket and play safe and easy to get carried when I play the 2nd role?

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day 😀

Edit: here is my op.gg: op.gg

Which mage do you think it is the best at covering the bad match ups?

Hi there,

I have been trying hard again to climb after a while and currently at my peak (plat 2), not very high but happy it is going well.

So I play ahri and lux and they are working nice as rounding up each other, lux feels good into some ahri bad match ups like Viktor and orianna while ahri feels good into some of lux bad match ups like some mobile assassins.

Although I'm looking for a 3rd and final mage champion to tackle some of the common weaknesses remaining, I feel that I still struggle into fizz, yasuo and nafiri to give a few examples.

I thought about malzahar, Lissadra, vex, and while some others can work like Cassiopeia, I feel realistically she is too hard for me to ever be proficient at her. That said which champion do you guys think would be the next 3rd champion to round this small pool?

Is xin Zhao mid really strong ATM or am I just bad?

Is xin zhao mid really strong this patch or am I just bad?

I have been getting completely rolled by xin Zhao mid this patch.

Is this a me thing or is the pick really strong into ahri and aurora? He does ungodly amounts of early damage and has a strong healing.

Also any tips? Do I treat this as a match up similar to akshan and go full scaling runes and only interact with him if he tries to force trades on bad windows?

Any tips on the match up appreciated 🙂
