Curious about acceleration in Cyber Security

Hello! I’ve recently become aware of the cyber security program and I have some questions for anyone that’s in it currently and also those who have accelerated. I have a decent amount of entry level IT and support experience (Apple - technical specialist, American Airlines - Help Desk Analyst, level 1&2 help desk at an MSP) and I’m curious about peoples experiences with trying to accelerate this course. How did it go for you? What did it require in terms of time commitment? Is it realistic? Right now I run a business from home, but I have a lot of time on my hands during the day as well to dedicate 6-8 hours for studying. I’m at the point where I really don’t care about how hard I have to work or how much time I have to put in, so I’m completely willing, but I do want to know if a degree like this is viable to finish in a years time. Thank you!

Sophia transfer credits for Cyber Security

I’ve been on this subreddit gathering information and I see a lot of people mention using Sophia first to get transferable credits in order to shorten the amount of terms you may have to take at WGU. I’ve looked into it a bunch and the logic tracks but I am curious about what that pathway looks like.

Does anyone have a list of the courses I should take at Sophia first? I know the general ed classes for sure but I also see that some of the basic IT courses are there as well. Is there a smart way to structure which classes to take at Sophia vs at WGU? I definitely want to finish quickly but I’m more interested in actually retaining the information as well.

Is pursuing a cyber security degree at WGU worth it given my experience level?

Hello all,

I’m looking into getting into cyber security with WGU. I have some prior experience in IT, worked at Apple as tech support for a couple years and then went to American Airlines as a Help Desk Analyst for a little over a year as well. I currently do some on and off tier 1 and 2 work at an MSP that a friend of mine owns. I am curious to know if getting a cyber security degree from WGU with that level of experience will help me kick start a career? I know it won’t be a crazy 6 figure job out the gate, but will I realistically be a candidate to land a security analyst type of role or something similar?

Desk Mats POD thoughts?

I’ve been looking into POD for a while now and I’m st the stage where I’m trying to understand product types/niches. I’ve come across desk mats/gaming mats and wondered if anyone has gone into this market themselves? My questions would be:

How are the profits with desk mats?

What supplier did you end up with?

If you scaled beyond POD and got into your own manufacturing, how did that work out for you?

Considering selling custom wall art or canvas using POD. How has this worked out for you?

Hello all,

I am new to the POD space but it is something that I’ve been thinking about for far too long. I still feel it’s a viable option for me and upon some research I decided to stay away from going the clothing route. My thought process is to go for something that invokes an emotional purchase, which has led me to wall art, specifically custom art. Still narrowing down exactly what niche (pet portraits, family portraits etc)

I do know that thousands upon thousands have tried and failed in this same category. I’m not deterred by that as I know a lot of it comes down to consistency, treating this as a legit business, and maybe some blind luck, but those aren’t things I’m afraid of.

My question is, for anyone that has explored this avenue and seen some success, what are the key factors that you feel helped you grow in a meaningful way?

What’s your daily routine like as a small business owner?

Hello all,

I just started running a custom apparel business about 3 months ago. I started off strong but it feels almost like I hit a plateau the last couple of weeks. My usual methods of getting clients hasn’t worked the same as it did in the very beginning and now I’m going to switch to going B2B/cold calling for more leads. The thing is, I’ve never done that before and I don’t really know the first thing about how to structure that, however my question is a bit different.

As a small business owner, how did you structure your day in order to be productive, keep motivation, and yield results? If you could share any insights to your mentality and how that helps that would be awesome too! I’m especially curious about your first few months in and how that translated to success over time

Hello everyone!

I recently started a custom apparel business and I mostly use DTF transfers to make shirts with heat press that I own. I found a local shop that will do my embroidery as well for a good enough price for me to make a profit while I scale.

I’m approaching 90 days since I started and I feel I have reasons to be encouraged, but still find myself stressing about if I’m really going about this the right way, to give an idea:

My expectation was to not have any sales for the first few months but thankfully I’ve been able to secure clients via Facebook marketplace and also through my local network. I’ve had 10 clients so far and 3 of them have put in repeat orders.

My goal is to sell roughly 200 shirts per month in the short term. I guess I stress out about how to go about finding new clients who can be big enough accounts to really scale this business the way I want to.

For anyone who has been in the business for a while or is seeing any success, what tips do you have? I really would love to know how I can effectively scale and grow as a business.

Thank you!
