Was wondering if anyone could please help with Attributing this coin and if this is mostly encrustation that I can remove with DI water? Or is it just decayed metal and there's no saving it? Coin is Bronze, 6.61g, 27 mm
Any info is helpful, thank you all in advance
After all the hard IDs you good folk help me with I figured I'd give you all some hope for my collection. With this great piece I picked up from numismall. A wonderful Philip the Arab, Antoninianus.
Let me know what you all think! Okay piece, for one of my first Silver pieces?
Should I set it free of its cage?
Very tough to attribute as there isn't any legend left. Is it possible to get anything from this? Please help if you can. Any ideas are helpful!
2.15g, 14mm Coin.
Here is a wonderful little ancient coin I got from a set of random Greek coins.
This coin is a bronze coin, 15mm in diameter and 2.32g.
When searching for coins with a cornucopia nothing has come back to me looking similar. Am I wrong about it being a cornucopia?
Can someone please help me attribute these two Greek bronze coins.
Coin 1: 21 mm 7.25g
Obv: Unknown bust facing right.
Rev: what I believe to be Victory/Nike wings spread.
Coin 2: 15 mm 2.32g
Obv: Unknown bust facing right
Rev: A Chalice with castle wall to the side.
Any info is helpful.
Is there anywhere with a lot of resources on Greek coins?
I've recently got in a lot of Greek coins and am slowly going through them. Here are the first two that I've been trying to attribute.
Coin 1: 16mm 3.17g bronze coin one side has a feather with Greek words I can't read the other appears to be an altar? Or half a trireme maybe?
Coin 2: 11.5 mm 1.35 g bronze coin. I can't tell what's on the obverse. A lion's mane or a ruler's hair maybe? The reverse is a fir tree with Greek letters Sigma and K which lead me to finding out it's from Skepsis, Troas.
Any info is helpful. Thank you all in advance.
With the bust so disfigured, can anyone tell me what I'm looking at here.
25 mm 10.88 g silver piece.
Reverse:seated figure on a throne. KAT to the right of the coin. There's more Greek lettering above I can't read.
Obverse: a blob of a bust. 🫣
Any info is appreciated, thank you all for your time
I would like to know if it's possible to attribute the emperor on this small camp gates coin.
The coin is a well worn obverse DN T- (Theodosius I?)
The reverse -PVBLICE. on right side is visible. No mint mark.
15 mm 1.00 g coin.
Am I wrong in thinking this is a Theodosius, camp gates coin?
The bust is heavily covered. I know. I was hoping to get an Attribution to this coin. The reverse might be more useful. I believe it's a VIRTVS AVGVSTORVM reverse. 18 mm diameter
Can someone please help me ID this 10 Nummi piece. Can someone tell me if this Anastasius I or Justinian I? They're the only emperors that did the side portraits at this point of the Empire. I understand the coin doesn't have much to see. Just thought someone might be able to help.
Picked up this coin in a lot. I have no idea what it is. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.
Coin 1.
One side has the remains of an elephant and some worn Greek writing underneath. The other side appears to be a helmeted bust? Or a horse head? 17mm 3.4g
Coin 2.
Entirely too worn for me to make anything out. Possible elephant again. Hoping a sharper eye could help. 17mm 4.31g
It's my understanding that this type of coin has a Greek letter under the S-C of the reverse. Wondering if anyone can make it out?
Repost with more info for more eye balls and new photos showing more hopefully.

This coin is of provincial mint from Thessalonica. AE28

The obverse has no legend but a bust is visible although worn.

Reverse is Victory with a partial ID for Thessalonica.

Special thanks goes to the wonderful commenters on the previous post mentioned, which will have a link to view the possible coins they thought it was.

Can someone please let me know if it's possible to get this coin attributed.

I know it has Victory on the reverse.
Is 28 mm in diameter, so either a double dupondius or an As. The obverse is very worn however. All you can really make out is the top of the hair I believe.

Any info is helpful. Thank you all in advance.
There's weird wear on the head of the obverse, and the writing on reverse isn't like anything I've seen. Is this a fake? A late empire more simple design? Is it even Latin? The whole coin has me skeptical. Can someone please help attributing. Coin is 18 mm I believe it's Bronze.
Any info is helpful thank you in advance.
I got this coin as part of a set. Upon further inspection, I can make out the partial word -NORVM on the reverse. This leads me to believe it's a Gloria Romanorvm reverse. Having trouble attributing the emperor though. Can someone please help me narrow it down or attribute it?
I was wondering if someone could please help attribute this coin for me. I believe it reads Antoninianus in the legend.
Obverse: Emperor bust facing right, diademed and radiated. I believe: Faint Antoninianus in the legend to the left of the face. Photos:1,2 and 3
Reverse: Appears to be Salus standing with a snake. No legend. Photo:4
Diameter: 28 mm
27 mm bronze coin, possibly an As.
Obverse: bust facing right.
Some very faded legend survives, is depicted in the second photo.
Reverse: very worn, appears to be a "Concordia" type reverse coin. Possibly a faint S-C on both sides of the figures.
Any info is helpful.
