Therapy while on JET

Hey everyone! At the start of this year before leaving for JET I started therapy work with a professional for the first time in my life and found it super helpful. Unfortunately though, by coming over here I am unable to continue working with my therapist. However I still really would like to continue working with a professional while here and was just wondering if anyone has any experience with what the process looks like?

I know we have the medical insurance through our BOE but I’m not sure if that covers therapy or mental health services. I am also aware JET has its own counseling service, but I’m not sure if that’s exactly what I’m looking for in terms of building a relationship with a consistent mental health professional.

So yeah if anyone has some advice on how they continued and or started therapy while on JET id really appreciate hearing about your experiences!

Help for planning next steps

Hey everyone! I’m a recent college graduate with my BA in history. Teaching is something I’ve always loved the idea of and I’ve been starting to seriously consider teaching high school social studies for the last 6 months or so. Hence me coming here to ask for some advice.

At the beginning of this coming August I’ll be moving to Japan to be an English teacher at a small middle school and elementary school in the countryside. I plan on being out there for about 3 years and Ideally I would like to use this time to make my transition into teaching in the U.S. a bit easier.

Some of the states I’m potentially targeting to move to when I return from Japan are California, Washington, Massachusetts, and a couple others. I’m from Florida originally and would rather not come back here to start teaching as a career. I am aware each state has its own credentialing program among other requirements. But I was wondering if these programs could be started online at all? Or if it would be worth doing a masters in history or education online while I’m overseas. I am also aware some school districts offer emergency contracts where they’ll pay for your training and credentialing all at once, so should I just do nothing at all and pursue an opportunity like that when I get back??

Just seems like a lot of different ways to go about things so I was just wondering what you would do in my case? So being abroad for three years knowing this is a career I want to pursue and I’m also about to have alot of free time on my hands, what are some good next steps I can take?
