ALEKS placed me in Math 3 but I got a 2 on AP Calc AB—what happens?
Hi everyone! I'm an incoming Biology major at UCR and I'm really stressed about my math placement. I just took the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment and scored a 33, so it says my placement is Math 3. However, I also got a 2 on the AP Calculus AB exam, and I've heard that a score of 2 can qualify you for Math 4 or Math 5A.
I'm really hoping to stay on track for a 4-year graduation as a Biology major, and I'd prefer to start in Math 5A if possible.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? If your ALEKS score placed you into Math 3 but you had an AP Calculus AB score of 2, were you able to enroll in Math 5A instead?
Also, if I do have to start in Math 3, were you still able to graduate on time as a Biology major?
I'm honestly really anxious, so I'd really appreciate hearing about anyone's experience. Thank you!
