Looking forward to next week’s episode on John Carter

Bold choice spend that much on a hospital drama but I trust the vision.

Fleetwood Mac was so uncool in the late 80s, a #2 hit in the UK in 1989 was entirely about how lame they were

was listening to the newest SvS episode and surprised this track never came up at all in the discussion about how lame the band were.

also this song is so 1989 “lame 80s” coded it’s unreal and kinda funny in retrospect.

"I Will Always Love You" (Parton) vs "Love Story" (Swift)

Just discovered that these two songs are the only songs to top the Billboard Country Charts in both their original and re-recorded versions. Both surprisingly have a lot in common.

• both self written in 20 minutes

• the first instance of a country superstar attempting a pop crossover moment (Love Story topped pop radio and IWALY was Dolly’s first Hot AC hit)

• romantic adjacent songs that use a clever final act trick for top tier emotional effect (IWALY being delicate and restrained until the near spoken word middle 8 and key change final chorus; Love Story’s key change and lyrically changes from both Shakespeare’s work and earlier in the song.

• the aforementioned re-recordings also being chart toppers.

Seeing all of the discussion about Beyoncé being eligible next year made me wonder. Her and Jay-Z are a married couple, they will have been inducted into the hall as separate performers/people and not as part of the same duo or group.

Would that be the first time that happened for performers?

Let me know if I’m missing anyone, but the married couples (or just couples) are typically in the same group together (Ike/Tina, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Carol/Gerry, Paul & Linda if the Wings rumoured turned out true) or non-performer and performer (Phill & Ronnie, Berry & Diana).

Would Jay and Bey be the first married pair of performers with their own separate inductions?

and do you see this happening for any other married couples in the recent future?
