no. 6 of 46 - Dial

Been working on a series of hand-painted Adirondack High Peaks badge designs and finally finished Dial.

Tried to make it feel like an old trail patch / ranger badge with some peak-specific details worked in. For this one I used a loon, blue flag iris, and balsam fir pine cones. Also changed the previous ones from saying ‘Adirondack 46ers’ to ‘Adirondack High Peaks’ as someone pointed out last time (copy right infringement!).

Curious what other animals/botany people think would translate well into this style.

Painting heirloom badges for the 46ers

Wanting to share my art as I paint my way through the 46ers and get your thoughts!

I want to add some information on the back side, Google research gets the big picture but I want to know what was trolly memorable about this hike from anyone who’s done it?

A series I’m working on, “46er Ranger Badges,” since I won’t be able to get out and hike for a while (little kids) but that doesn’t mean I’ll stop daydreaming.

8” diameter gouache (opaque watercolor) painted on 300lb. cotton paper
