Telegram vs Signal, they are not the same

Based in Germany. I am so tired of the telegram vs signal argument because half the people in it clearly have not read a single line of how either app actually works.

Tested both this week. Signal on a Pixel 8 (Android 15) and linked to a Windows 11 desktop. Telegram same setup. Normal chats, a group chat, voice notes, photos.

Signal: end to end encrypted. By default. Every chat. Every call. Every device. I did not flip a switch.

Telegram: regular chats are NOT end to end encrypted. Group chats are NOT end to end encrypted. Channels are NOT end to end encrypted. The only thing that is, is a manually started "Secret Chat" between two people on one device that does not even sync.

"But Pavel Durov said." I do not care what Pavel Durov said. I care what the protocol does.

Simple version:

  • Signal: e2e by default, everywhere, open audited protocol.
  • Telegram: e2e only in manual one to one secret chats, on one device, using a homemade protocol cryptographers have been side-eyeing for a decade.

That is the whole comparison. Thank you

Anyone still on Telegram for anything sensitive in 2026, what is your actual reason?

Social media ban under 16 UK, should I be worried?

I'm in Bristol, 24, and I just saw a headline about the new social media ban under 16 in the UK. Am I losing it, or is this actually happening? Because half the articles make it sound like the whole country is getting locked out of TikTok Twitter, Youtube and more, not just kids.

Does the UK under 16 social media ban affect adults too, will I have to upload my passport to scroll, and is this already in force? Really confused about social media ban under 16 in uk overall

How to unlock Yasyadong.tv?

I'm a 20대 freelance designer living in Incheon, work from home most days, and I've been trying to figure out how to unlock Yasyadong.tv for the past few weeks. Tried switching to my phone hotspot (also KT) and got the exact same block. A fr of mine on SKT says identical story for him, so this is clearly a 방심위 level thing across all the major Korean ISPs right now.

Tested on: Windows 11 desktop, iPhone 14 Pro and a Galaxy Tab S8. Three devices, two networks (home KT line and KT mobile data), blocked everywhere. So I know for sure it's not a device or browser issue.

Edit: Finally found a way to unlock it:

  1. Choose a VPN. I tested with Surfshark and it worked.
  2. Install, login.
  3. Turn on: kill switch and ad and tracker blocking features (like cleanweb)
  4. Connect to a server that allows access to adult content (Poland works fine)
  5. You can now access yasyadong again

The part that's making me extra confused. My older brother who lives in 일본 for work says the site loads with no problem at all on his SoftBank line, no tools, nothing. So it's not just about getting around KT/SKT/LGU+. It seems like Yasyadong is also doing some kind of geo filtering on top of the Korean block, and you actually need a Japanese (or maybe HK) connection for the content itself to even play.

So now I'm stuck. and I'd rather hear from real people in 한국 who actually use something that works.

Anyone in 한국 found a method that reliably unlocks Yasyadong.tv? Specifically:

-What's actually working right now from a KT or SKT line, given the SNI inspection situation?

-Does it really have to be a Japan based exit or does HK / Taiwan also play fine?

-Anyone on LG U+ getting the same redirect or is LGU+ less aggressive about this domain?

-Has anyone tried setting up their own server on a Tokyo VPS (Vultr, Linode, Conoha) instead of paying a commercial service, and does the site flag datacenter IPs or does it still work fine?

Any honest help appreciated. I just want to to unlock Yasyadong.tv
