Sarajevo was under siege for 1,425 days during the Bosnian War. Snipers positioned in the surrounding hills fired at civilians crossing the city’s open roads. This became known as Sniper Alley because even walking from one side of the street to the other could cost someone their life.

This Banksy mural appeared on London’s Royal Courts of Justice on September 8, 2025, two days after many protesters were arrested in the city. Authorities covered it the same day, but that only made its message feel stronger.
