Bad Walls

Hi and thank you so much in advance. I have been doing this a long time, and feel pretty confident. However, I made a mistake I think. I did a walk-through, and quoted them. I did not realize how bad their walls were even though I feel like I eyed everything pretty well. You know how some cat owners will push the litter boxes against the walls, and sometime the cats will get their poo on the walls from sitting on the edge? I think that is what happened. But I'm gonna have to make a pass at it through a few visits because it's.. substantial. Normally, I try to avoid anyone with that situation (no judgment, just not for me/my scope). I should have charged more and I should have probably just declined it. But's it's also a friend of a friend and so I felt more obligated I guess for lack off a better word. I'm continually working on trying to be more stern. 1) any other housekeepers- can you make me feel a little better. Do you ever miss the mark on something even after years of experience? 2) any suggestions for getting this off the walls? Thanks in advance.

Prior Notice On Guests

Hello! Thank you in advance 😄 I just wanted to get some advice from other housekeepers or cleaners. Recently, I have felt very betrayed by long time clients telling me things last minute or straight out lying (someone says they have allergies and I find out the doctor literally told them they were contagious, or by the way "I had Covid a couple days back", or by the way "we adopted a dog". It is NEVER with advance notice and almost coming out with little bits of truth until they finally say everything.

The thing I take the most issue with is lately is telling me someone else is coming by. Like a pest control, maintenance guy, etc. I understand it is there home, but at the same time.... I also have rights to choose how I work, decide if I feel it's also a liability issue having to work around someone who is not part of my routine (stepping through my mopped floors, etc). And I feel that the issue to notify me AFTER I am already there is very telling. Being a woman, I also have to take into account any "creepy factors" from being forced into an environment with a man I do not know.

I would prefer not to get a bunch of snotty responses being like 'it's my home and I'll do what I want". I do understand that. But again, I just feel I have a right to know who and what I am going to have work around. It seems like the bare minimum politeness. Someone text me once, 'there will be stucco crew when you get here doing renovations...it's super loud and hope you have earphones" when I was 2 minutes down the street. I feel those types of things are just not acceptable and I would not do that to someone. Thoughts?

Unannounced Guests

I just wanted to get some perspective. So, I do understand that people have a right to do whatever they want in their homes. It's their property. So I do want to respectful. However, I have some clients who tell me when I was pet sit, "oh by the way pest control is coming by today" or by the way my mother-in-law is dropping by to get something from the garage. Again, I understand it's their home and all, but if I am staying there, I feel very violated by the lack of notice.

They don't tell me before I accept the job, and they don't even tell me like one day in advance. I am not trying to be a diva, but I also just don't feel comfortable being around people I don't know. Plus, it feels like a liabilty issue.

In addition, I had one client who I explained this to extremely clear and expressly told them I don't feel comfortable with men on the property I don't know because of some stuff that has happened to me (and I went into detail).

They thanked me for sharing so that I coudl feel comfortable and told me verbatim they would "make sure no one was there". Then called me today to ask what time I was leaving and to tell me their friends son was going to be cutting trees on the fencing (not necessarily on the property) and they wanted to let me since they knew I did not feel comfortable. Yes, I have met him like 7 or 8 years ago a couple times. But, like not even like 2 hours notice. I'm trying to be reasonable, but I also feel gaslit kind of because I explicitly said this before. And I would not mind as much if they would have just told me beforehand. I feel manipulated. I just want some perspective?
