What's your take on carrying a GPS tracker for backcountry hikes?

For those who spend time on remote trails, do you think a GPS tracker is worth bringing along?

I'm not asking about any specific brand: just wondering whether you've found one genuinely useful in real-world hiking, or if careful planning, offline navigation, and letting someone know your route have been enough.

I'd appreciate hearing both positive and negative experiences.

ATV owners, have you had a GPS tracker actually help you?

Just wondering if anyone here has had real situations where a GPS tracker made a difference with an ATV.

Was it useful in theft recovery, tracking, or just general monitoring? Or does it mostly go unused after installation? Would be great to hear real experiences, good or bad.

Thinking about adding a GPS tracker to my vintage car, but I’m not sure how smooth the process is with older systems.

Was installation straightforward, or did it require modifications? And once installed, did it actually give you useful info or just peace of mind? Would appreciate hearing some real-world experiences before I go down that route.

Regards in advance.
