The queen of my tank

She is the plumpest girl I have and I adore her SO much. I bought her from my workplace two years ago because she was already 3x the size of the other kuhli loaches! Granted, it’s really not hard, we get babies in but we still haven’t gotten a loach in as big as her since. Even though I have 8 of them, I can always tell when it’s her 🩵 She’s who’s started my obsession

Insulinoma Ferret Owners - Does the energy ever return?

My baby girl Juno got diagnosed with it last month, she’s on steroids and I’ve been making her soup to ensure she eats. She turned 7 early December as well.

We lost her partner Milo in September due to insulinoma—spent 6 months trying to get him diagnosed with just anything and then when he finally did the vet didn’t want to do steroids yet and well.. he passed the next day. Anyway, after losing him, she seemed to be MORE active and playful. Like she had been slowing herself down to keep up with him.

I noticed her slowing down in early April, found a new vet and got her diagnosed. She at times has more energy, but most of the times sleeps. I know ferrets sleep a lot but she’s just extra sleepy, not her normal busy self. She has always been an independent player, even when she had two companions. I really don’t believe it’s because she’s depressed due to being alone.

Other ferret owners who’ve gone through managing this illness, do you notice your ferrets bounce back once they are on medicine? Any advice for helping her manage this would also be greatly appreciated.

She has a check up appointment the end of the month so any concerns I’ll be able to bring up to her vet then. I know she’s a little old lady, I want to make sure her last years are as best as I can give them to her. I lost her partner very traumatically so I’m doing everything I can to make sure it doesn’t happen to her as well.

Thank you!
