Middle School Math
I've got an 11.5 year old in 6th grade and we're struggling with math. We were previously using Teaching Textbooks... she made it through grade 5 but it was a struggle as she said there wasn't enough instruction.
Does anyone have curriculum suggestions that hit all or most of these points?
- preferably paper based, although video instruction along with paper based would also be acceptable
- lots of instruction, and lots of repetition. I don't mean a ton of practice questions. But I'd like her to learn a concept and then practice it for more than one day before adding another concept.
- in the vein of repetition, preferably spiral. She will forget how to do something if she doesn't encounter it again. However it's not a dealbreaker if it's mastery based.
I'm willing to sit and help her learn the material, but we're currently struggling because she's acting like she can't do any of it on her own and she's expecting me to walk her through every problem even though it's a concept she's learned pretty thoroughly. I feel like we're both going to die by fractions and ratios.
