Steering column lower universal joint
Looking for some feedback and how I position my stance with the dealership..
2020 e-tron Sportback 55 Quattro with 56k miles.
Two weeks ago the car was taken directly to the dealership after roadside assistance identified a steering fault. The steering had become extremely stiff, with noticeable sticking points when turning the wheel in either direction. After an investigation, the dealership advised that the lower steering column universal joint required replacement as the original part had become excessively tight.
The repair was approved under warranty and I collected the car yesterday. While the sticking points have now disappeared, the steering still feels unusually heavy and under tension. For example, when reversing into a parking space, it is taking far more effort than expected to turn the wheel one-handed towards full lock.
I’m unsure whether a degree of stiffness is normal while the new part settles in, but at the moment I’m not fully convinced the issue has been completely resolved.
Keen to know your thoughts on this and how I should position my stance with the dealership as someone who doesn’t have much knowledge in these situations.
