My Brand New BMW X5 Experience

Let me preface this by saying that the two times I have driven the car (from the dealership and back to the dealership) have been great. I purchased a BMW X5 M60i new about two weeks ago. I waited two months from build allocation to delivery, completely loaded with every package possible.

All was well until I noticed that the leather of the driver’s seat had already frayed and ripped in one spot. This was in addition to a factory paint abnormality on the rear tail gate (a bubbling for lack of better word that could be easily identified by the eye).

Fast forward 10 days, the dealership attempted a “repair” of the leather which included gluing down the frayed leather, which still looked terrible.

The dealership vendor managed to buff out the paint abnormality in the rear tailgate but in doing so caused a paint chip in that area, a scratch on the rear bumper, and multiple dents of the real tail gate that they believe was due to wind when they painted it again and supposed foreign objects hit the bumper.

Now, the vendor and service advisor team have acknowledged that the real tail gate is beyond their repair capability and is requesting a body shop to fix it with an unknown time frame to completion.

I have notified BMW of North America who is performing their investigation (waiting to hear what they say after a few business days). I have already asked for compensation (and will keep pushing for it). My first month’s payment is due in two weeks on a brand new car that I cannot drive. The last resort is asking for a complete new factory build (which I doubt anyone would agree to), but I know production is ceasing and especially since this one had every single package for a BMW X5 M60i. Any one with a similar experience or advice?
