2,000-Year-Old Inscribed Gold Ring Unearthed in Thailand

Thai archaeologists from the Fine Arts Department have discovered two ancient gold rings, including a rare signet ring bearing an ancient Indian Brahmi inscription, at the Don Yai Thong archaeological site in Ban Lat District, Phetchaburi Province.

Language specialists and archaeologists from Silpakorn University tentatively read the script as "Pusrakhitasa" (or Pusrajitasa) translates to "belonging to Pusrakhita" or "one who is protected by the Pushya star".

This artifact stands as critical historical evidence proving the direct, vibrant maritime trade and cultural exchange between the Indian subcontinent and the ancient Suvarnabhumi region (present-day Thailand) during the early historic period.
