Chimney Insulation?
I'm remodeling my living room which includes revamping the fireplace area. Currently it's a regular wood burning fireplace but next year we are going to install a wood burning my insert with a flue liner and we don't plan on burning this winter. Is the fiberglass insulation against the block of the chimney a good idea or no? When I removed the drywall that was covering the chimney there wasn't any insulation and I thought I'd add some to create a thermal break between the cold block and the warm indoors because the chimney is on an exterior wall. Will this cause any problems?
