Looking for a dedicated teammate.

Hello everyone, I'm Slevin.

Former triage enjoyer : p for about +500 hours, now main Sentinel.

I'm in EU, and so is the mate I play with. We don't have a specific schedule to play, we just check with each other on discord tell when are we going to be available, and and go when we're online.

I mean I'm usually around 16h (CET) onwards.

Both my mate and I play on PC.

Ideally looking for a EU PC player, but I've played with ppl that didn't fit that criteria and was a fine game, so not a requirement.

We run Cryo as much as we can when it's available, we are successful there. Me and my mate are not interested in ranked at the moment.

I know how to navigate Cryo very well (so does my mate), we've done all vaults, and know how to do them, we play with ppl from all over and skill levels.

What are we looking for:

Ideally (yes again, as it isn't a must) for someone who's at the same level we are, as in keeps up with our pace or is able to learn it and grow with the team.

Someone that communicates efficiently, "Destroyer with sniper blue shields North west" something like that, doesn't have to be like this from the get go, but someone that communicates with the team, info is life for me, I can plan around that on the fly. So to have someone that can give good precise info, is really strong in my book.

Very important: We're chill ppl, game is already intense enough itself, we're here to do our best and have fun, that's it.

We don't: Invade other spawn spots in Cryo, blame each other if something goes wrong, start arguing anything when we died while there's one teammate still alive specially if it's clutching. We don't trash talk.

Mindest:

I'm coordinating the teams I play with, specially with Sentinel "as in we should do this and that" (set the goals / routes if you will), or we move here and hold this chokepoint (if we're in a disadvantageous position), or we are in a bad possition we need to rotate elsewhere. Again that doesn't mean noone else can do it, by all means that's welcomed, having multiple options is great.

With that being said good calls are needed and welcomed (If I hear a call that's better than mine I'll instantly agree, if not I'll say so and why if we have the time for it), I can only do so much myself, and I make mistakes like any other. I do own my mistakes, and I'm happy to take feedback and talk about it after the match in a calm respectful manner.

How I like to play: Tactical. Trying to minimize risks, taking favorable fights, whenever the situation allows it. Which translates to: not ego pushing and getting down etc, basically playing the best I can and smartly.

My approach is defensive. I'll do my best to get you in and out, specially in Cryo. That doesn't mean I don't play aggressively, I do, when I hold the cards, say we get one dead and we know the others are broken. You get an idea, always capitalizing in favorable fights, not letting the enemy recover.

Feel free to reply and we can talk about it, or send me a dm we can try to run together, see if we vibe together, no pressure, just trying to find a player that fits and is comfortable with us.

Hope I didn't miss any essential info.

Cheers ppl.

Appreciation post for Sentinel / and input on season 2.

The other day I made a appreciation post for Triage, and how I was leaving it for Sentinel, as Sentinel truly fits me playstyle and mindest. Been couple of days and I've played Sentinel non-stop and I won't be stopping anytime soon : p.

Today I'd like to give my humble two cents about Sentinel. And how it made me "enjoy the game here and there (me being Triage), to enjoy it every single run".

As usual hope this going to be a fun read, I tend to make walls of text. Before I start if you think I'm glazing over Sentinel or Marathon you do you, I won't argue about that, I try to stay true to the facts.

I'd like to thank whoever (single person or multiple) that designed Sentinel. You guys knocked it out of the park for me. And I'd love to shake your hand.

Why? Because we really needed (at least I did) a Shell that can shape a fight, control the battlefield, make a closed space safe for the team to breath for a small period of time.

And I see all the aggressive shells, Vandal, Destroyer, Assassin even? Maybe Thief too with the grapple? (maybe I'm pushing, probably. Well at least those first 2 have an aggressive kit) being slapped in the face when they push a proper choke point.

I love how well Sentinel fits into the actual meta, it's THE tool I was desperately asking for, and I wasn't even aware of. For real.

I was sick of getting invaded in Cryo at min 27 (thank fuck that's rare now, really thank you, at least this weekend has been rare) Now I can prepare the battlefield, set the terms. Be like "you come to my house to kill me and my team? You better do it, cuz I'm not gonna make it easy for you."

I swear I stopped playing by the late end of season 1 because of the invasion, the mizzi's etc. And wasn't hopefull about season 2.

Now you guys (Marathon team) made me go back in hard, made contracts easier, made the vault bigger, made the progression faster (THANK YOU for all that, I swear if the game was going to be like in season 1, for me was going to be too slow, that would have made me step away from the game).

Going back to Sentinel. I swear the Shell, the quotes of the shell, it just speaks for itself, the "mindset" the Icon "Control the board" ppl might not understand how needed was a shell that can slow down pushes, because plenty of ppl complaining the mizzy meta (I certainly made a post about that) And I'm not saying the meta is perfect right now, but I've come from "This meta in Cryo is smothering the joy I feel for the game" to "I can work with this, with Sentinel"

Now I don't feel frustrated when I get invaded (or killed), bothers me? Yes, but again there's no rules so I am okay with that. So "free real state" if you will, and I appreciate that, imo it's as it should be.

I don't get bother because I see that I've tools to defend myself, unlike in late season 1. Very important factor. I'm not saying "invading is cool" it isn't imo, but you do you.

Going back to Sentinel, I've found my shell. I used to be main Triage, been for 500h, and I'd try too hard (sometimes) to fix mistakes from my teammates, and while doing so, messing up and getting killed.

Now with Sentinel I'm like, no. You get out of possition, you keep shooting with broken shields and get downed, you do you. I'll save you. But I'll do it on my terms, meaning I'll prioritize keeping me alive and whoever is left, and make a safe space to get the res going. Again "Controlling as much as I can the situation, in order to stabilize it"

And I find so much joy playing Sentinel, that I can do whatever I am enjoying that, I read ppl "played X hours I don't feel like doing X or Y" and when I was playing Triage just a tiny bit of myself felt like "I'm wearing some clothes that aren't completely comfortable" not anymore. And I am so "comfortable" like I said, I'm just happy to wear my clothes "play Sentinel" yes Sentinel to me feels like an extension of myself while in game, as weird that may sound. It's a tool that allows me to express myself in the battlefield : p.

I wanna finish this by saying thank you Marathon team, I don't think you guys are living an easy time, but you've made an old player very happy with the game, and Sentinel. Carry on.

Happy to discuss Sentinel / Triage, or in game tactics with anyone.

Cheers.

Confesion from a former Triage main. (appreciation for Sentinel)

First of all I'd like to say thank you to Triage players. You guys give your teammates another chance at getting back into the game with your ult, and keep us nicely healed with the drone (unless "you're that guy") hope you chads get the well deserved recognition and praise from your teammates when you deserve it, way I see it, a team with a good triage, is hella strong, as Triage is the backbone of any team he is in.

Hope you can bear with me gonna do a bit a of a wall of text, ideally will be something fun to read. : p

I've played +500h and 99% of the time has been as Triage (I love him, okay I thought I did). I think Triage is an amazing shell. Though it has allowed me to flip the table so many times, "fix" mistakes from my teammates that happened for whatever reason, with his ult. Always felt like there Triage wasn't giving me 100% of what I want for a shell in Marathon.

Thing is I've always felt like I wanted to do more, I felt good at trying to keep ppl stay alive, I truly do, still do. Still worry whenever I see my teammates with depleted shields and I say to myself "hope we don't get a team right now, because that guy is vulnerable". Yeah always thinking what's our weak point right now, and how do we fix/prevent that? Anyway that's me. :p

Now my mindset is, always try to engage with the upper hand, (ofc that's idealistic) but you cannot do that everytime.

That's what Sentinel comes in.

I was curious about Sentinel, not really sure why. But today I thought, I wanna take it for a spin, I think Sentinel might be good for "dealing with the mizzy meta in cryo" at least that's what I've heard.

And fuck me, played a couple of games and I was like "OH MY GOD" I've the shell that allows me to go all in with my mindset if you will, an extension of how I function once in a match.

As Triage I've always been like I've said, "Try to keep everyone in one piece" and that'd be me worrying sometimes, now Sentinel my mindset is: I set the terms of the engagement, you want to fight, sure you come at us. I'm going to make you regret pushing us.
And that's aligns so well with "try to take engagements where you've the upper hand" I'm not pushing as Sentinel, that's fine by me, I'm making a space "safe" for as long as I can keep my ult up, and that gives me time to think, time to prepare for a push. Which is something that feels super rewarding.

I'll miss Triage very much, being able to heal my teammates, and res them. But for me, Sentinel it's just too good. Very happy that I've found my shell, I thought I did with Triage, fraid not.

Anyways, I just want to show some appreciation for the Sentinel shell, which just hits the spot so damn well on me, it's making me fall in love with the game again, I don't care if I'm doing a free kit outpost for the 400th time, I'm having a ball because of this shell.

I just wanna thank Bungie for making such a strong Season 2.

I might be called "you're in the honey moon phase, you're glazing, whatever, you do you, that's fine.

From those posts, and veterans here know, "I've spent x hours, (usually from 90 to 100 something and I love the art etc, but but but but, bla bla bla, leaving the game" I've been there.

And this season, in my humble opinion, many if not most of the issues ppl were complaining, haven been assessed and given fixes, pve ish? We have Survival. You've given 1 free week at the start of the season, I remember ppl mentioning this in posts, and I think it's a great idea to have ppl test the game.

Yeah the deluxe etc sponsored kits while I appreciate that, reached lvl 150 something?, made a very wacky first games in outpost, me with grey shields against ppl with purples, just saying I see the intention but maybe not great execution.

All I wanna say, is I played a lot in season 1, and I was disenchanted with how the meta was going at the end. Still am concerned, not going to lie, but hopeful.

However I'm having a bloody blast, going survival doing Complex.

The accessibility now in the contracts (OH MY god thank you!) I started season 2 being like "oh no... it's going to be a drag leveling the factions, getting upgrades..." And I'm so happy I was so wrong. I love being able to do a contract each match, to lvl Sekeguchi much better now, I swear I full on stop with Seke on season 1 it was too hard, now I'm commiting to do all contracts, and loving it.

Hope my message it goes through, all I'm saying is I am loving this, I've been here when the negativity hit, and I see a lot of good, really good moves from Bungie to make Marathon be the great game, ppl like me want to be.

Not everything is perfect : p, I'm missing to be able to buy my M77 from armory hahaha. But cannot have everything.

Anyways, thank you Marathon team if you read this, know that I'm having a ball thanks to you.

This is my humble 2 cents.

I hope you guys read this message.

Bit of context:

An hour or so after cryo opened today, me and my team we were filling the coolant on Biostock, and anyone that knows that room, knows (afaik) that there's only 1 way to go out.

So we fill the coolant, just to see that we're trapped by another team just outside the room blocked by the red field (alarm thingy).

Now what happened.

So I open the prox chat and say: we have the pump credentials, you guys want that? We don't want it, we just want to go, do our vault.

Enemy: we don't have any keys.

Me: oh okay, we just want to go our way, no need to pvp.

Enemy: We're going to vote it.

Me: okay. : o

Enemy: 2 against 1, we are going to fight.

Me: Alright.

If you guys read this, you know what happened afterwards, haha.

Anyhow I'd like to say I respect you three so much, you guys could have let us pass and tried to murder us from the back or try something sneaky, but instead went face on. I salute you guys. Keep being the chads you are.

I loved that encounter / situation.

Good luck out there, hope we meet again on friendlier terms.
