Advice on bumps under fur?
Hey all,
I've just moved to Houston with my 2.5 year old mini aussie. He's obviously been shedding a ton of his undercoat given the heat down here (we moved from Northeast Ohio), but lately he's developed these bumps along the top of his head and neck area. I haven't found many on his body. I also haven't seen any fleas or ticks on him, though his fur is so dense it can be hard to see his scalp. We've been cautious about going through tall grass given the prevalence of fleas and ticks in Southeastern Texas. Does anyone have insight into what these bumps could be, or has anyone dealt with something similar when moving to a hotter place with their dog? He's scratching a ton, but they don't appear to be painful.
Some details about him. He's about 35lbs, so the higher end of the growth chart for a mini. Unfortunately, his flea, tick and heartworm medication has lapsed, largely due to my own income before we moved. I've been working on getting him in for a heartworm test and restarting Simparico Trio, which should be done by the end of the month. Overall, his disposition hasn't changed at all, still my happy-go-lucky rider. But I am concerned about the bumps and if there's anything I can do to alleviate any discomfort or issue he might be having. Photo above for the algo, and many thanks in advance for any insight the community can provide.
