I stopped trying to optimize my walks

Recently I noticed that I was treating walks like tasks.

Trying to find the “best” route,
the “best” café,
the “best” place to go.

But the walks that actually made me feel calm
were usually the unplanned ones.

Small streets.
Random flowers.
Light through trees.
Quiet neighborhoods.

So while building my little walking project,
I added a feature where you can simply draw your own route with your finger.

Not for efficiency —
just to wander more naturally.

It oddly made walking feel softer again.

Walking quietly has helped my mental health more than I expected

Walking has helped me mentally more than I expected.

Not because it solves problems,
but because seeing quiet streets, trees, flowers,
or small everyday moments
sometimes makes breathing feel easier.

I think a lot of people carry stress quietly.
Walking doesn't solve everything, but it can help people slow down and notice small things again.

That feeling is one of the reasons I started building a small walking project called Sloami.
