Feedback on my master suite + laundry renovation layout? (Removing a bedroom in a 1967 house)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some technical feedback on a residential floor plan renovation I’m working on. I’m a construction superintendent, so I’m handling most of the work myself, but I want to make sure the layout is functionally solid before moving forward with permits and materials.

Project Summary:
• 1967 single-story house
• Converting from 4 bed / 2 bath → 3 bed / 2 bath
• Removing one small bedroom to enlarge the master bathroom and create a dedicated laundry room (currently located in the garage)
• Opening up the master bedroom by demoing two internal pocket closets
• Adding a 6’-0” vanity and reconfiguring the master bath and laundry for better flow

I’ve attached the existing floor plan and my current proposed layout below.

Specific areas I’d like feedback on:
• Circulation & Clearances: Are the walkway clearances adequate, particularly around the new laundry room door and the master bath entrance?
• Master Closet: Does the proposed closet provide reasonable storage and usability for two adults? Any suggestions on layout or sizing?
• Master Bathroom Layout: Thoughts on the shower/toilet/vanity relationship and overall clearances (especially around the shower and closet wall)?
• General Flow: Any obvious issues with traffic patterns or functionality once the changes are made?

I’m trying to balance functionality, constructability, and livability. Any technical critiques or suggestions on dimensions, circulation, or layout efficiency would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Feedback on my master suite + laundry renovation layout? (Removing a bedroom in a 1967 house)

Hey everyone,

I’m working on a renovation of my ~1967 house and could use some fresh eyes on the layout. I’m a construction superintendent by trade, so I’m pretty comfortable with the build side, but I want to make sure the final flow and functionality are solid before I lock everything in.

Quick project overview:
• Converting from 4 bed / 2 bath → 3 bed / 2 bath
• Removing one small bedroom to enlarge the master bathroom and add a dedicated indoor laundry room (currently in the garage)
• Opening up the master bedroom by removing two internal pocket closets
• Adding a 6’ vanity and better overall flow in the master suite

I’ve attached my existing layout and my current preferred proposed layout below.

My main concerns right now:
• Master closet size and usability (I want to make sure it works well for both me and my wife)
• Clearances and flow in the master bathroom, especially around the shower and vanity area

I’m planning to DIY a large portion of the work (demo, framing, drywall, plumbing, tile, etc.). Any constructive criticism, suggestions, or things I might be missing would be greatly appreciated — especially regarding closet functionality and bathroom clearances.

Thanks in advance!

Does anybody remember these?

Traeger Family,

I have an old Traeger Ranger that a good friend gifted me in 2022. I messed around with it for a little while but never used it much because I have a normal sized Traeger already on my back porch and I’m not much of camper. Well I’m traveling for work now and I decided to clean this guy up and bring him on the road with me to smoke on during the week when I’m not home.

One thing I noticed early on is that it was terrible at holding temp and would get really hot, and then cool down, and then get really hot again as you can see in the picture.

Has anyone ever used one of these? Do you remember them?

Disclaimer: Before anyone clocks it and roasts me for it, I know I have a makeshift grill grate and the top won’t close all the way, but the actual one got left at home. It works and my wife isn’t here to know I’m discoloring it permanently.

Edit: It’s a Traeger Scout, not a Ranger.
