Poem Revision: Tree of Guilt
tree of guilt
while in a wistful sleep
a whisper from above
invades my dream
with a message of woe
"thy languid step
time rarely slow
thy strives too high
for what thee sew"
open my eyes
and up I rise
half-awake muttered
an unpitied reply
"for my languid step?
my restful state?
but what shall i do,
for my bones who ache?"
and just like that
gone as appeared
'till a sharp inhale
berates my ear
"sun of many,
yet son of one
urgeth thee avoid
a life undone
cease thy questioning
for that thee ache
hear my words
that thy lord spake"
now, scholar of one
with true intention heed
listened to the lecturer
of divine word's creed
note i took
of divine word sung
and equipped myself rule
of a life well-rung
walks, no more
friends rid too
for only labor creates
a life well-due
my head in my books
time-wasting, i fear
production producing
until that i hear
door by door shut
a solemn lamp glow
illuminating the walls
of a life once replete
with laughter and pride
how far have i fallen?
i shiver with dread
i sense his deceit
promised joy and achievement
yet burdened solitude and shame
curse you lord
or whatever his name!
any help is appreciated!
