SCAM ALERT: Fake Banking Job Rackets Targeting Job Seekers in Mumbai & Thane
Hi everyone,
Be vigilant if you are applying for back-office or entry-level banking roles in the Mumbai MMR region. Multiple fake hiring agencies are running direct-interview rackets targeting freshers and experienced job seekers alike.
The Common Modus Operandi:
- Unsolicited Invitations: They message or call claiming your profile is "selected" for various back-office roles under reputable banking names (like HDFC Bank and others).
- The Bait: Promising guaranteed placement near your home location, ₹15,000–₹35,000 monthly pay (higher if you show previous salary slips), free two-way cab facilities, and zero formal assessment.
- Shady Office Locations: They provide vague addresses near Thane station with obscure landmarks and instruct candidates to call only after reaching the spot.
- The Extortion Trap: Upon arrival, they pose as official banking placement partners and demand upfront "consultancy/registration fees" ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹5,000+ to immediately issue an offer letter.
Profiles Commonly Baited:
- Front Desk / Reception
- Data Entry Operator
- Document Verification
- Back Office Executive
- MIS Executive
- Junior Accounts / Finance

- Never pay any upfront fees. If you receive similar messages, do not visit these locations and report the details directly to the Cyber Crime cell or local police.
