Hey neighbors! My husband and I run The Smugglers Chest. We’re currently have room to take on a couple of smaller furniture, upholstery or other projects.
I specialize in custom upholstery and leatherwork, and he handles the woodworking/metal fabrication/laser engraving. If you have a piece that’s been sitting in the garage needing some love—a seat cushion that needs recovering, a chair that needs a structural fix, or a custom leather item—let me know.
I’m not looking for massive factory-style jobs, just real projects for real people here in the area. Happy to send over some photos of recent work (like the wingback chair I just restored ) if you’re interested. DM me if you’ve got something you’ve been meaning to fix!
Check out more of our work on Facebook and TikTok.
Just wrapped up this wingback chair.
This one taught me a lot. The original fabric had basically disintegrated, so there weren’t many usable pattern pieces left. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the original upholstery was constructed, especially around the wings and arms.
Added decorative nailheads, kept the original wood legs, and managed to get everything back together without throwing it across the garage. I also managed to make three pillows and arm covers for it from the leftover fabric.
Far from perfect, but definitely one of the more challenging projects I’ve tackled so far. Happy to hear any feedback from the pros.

Hi everyone! I’m a beginner upholsterer looking to take on a few projects while I continue building my skills and portfolio.
Recent projects include:
• Antique footstool restoration with new foam, welt cord, and decorative tacks
• Dining chair reupholstery
• Wingback chair restoration
• Custom pillows and cushions
• Pet-damaged furniture repairs
I’m not a large upholstery shop, which means:
✓ Lower rates than most professional shops
✓ Attention to detail
✓ Honest communication about project scope and difficulty
✓ Before-and-after photos throughout the process
I’m especially interested in:
• Dining chairs
• Ottomans and footstools
• Accent chairs
• Seat cushions
• Simple furniture repairs and recover projects
If you have a piece you’d like refreshed instead of replaced, send me photos and I’ll let you know if it’s something I can help with.

Decorative tacks are the devil; this chair might be the first and last I do with them.
Here are some photos of my recent work, but I’m self taught and just starting now, feedback is always appreciated.
