Has anyone had luck watching the meteor shower?

Luckily, it's a new moon. Peak times are supposed to be today and tomorrow pre-dawn.

The actual event can be fun, but it's not as spectacular as the hype makes it out to be.

Trip 1 meter sometimes shows electric miles, and sometimes it doesn't.

2026 Escape PHEV.

Sometimes the Trip 1 meter shows electric miles, sometimes it doesn't. I haven't figured out what makes it do it sometimes, but not others. It DOES show total miles all the time, but sometimes it shows electric miles as well.

I will hold OK to reset Trip 1 when starting a trip. Sometimes it shows electric, sometimes it doesn't.

"This Trip" usually DOES show miles electric and total miles.

Does anyone know how to make it show electric when I want it to?

Gawd, I hate crappy software.

Mansfield Dam Information from Army Corps of Engineers.

There were a lot of questions about Mansfield/Lake Travis dam operations in the recent discussions on this forum.

This document seems to be a pretty good source for authoritative answers. Well, except that it's dated 2013, so something may have changed since then. It has a lot of details if you want to geek out about it.

It also gives you an idea about why the process is so confusing, and why they don't run it the way you think it should be run.

MANSFIELD (MARSHALL FORD) DAM AND LAKE TRAVIS WATER CONTROL MANUAL September 2013

The bits about the maximum expected flood levels is also interesting. And somewhat scary. The idea that there is a 1% per year chance it will flow over the top of the dam is scary. Makes me dam glad I live above that level.

Take this rain event seriously. Up to 12 inches out near Hondo, and a couple more days of rain is possible.

Gray areas are 4 inches or more.

NWS radar Total Rainfall for the current rain event.

This reminds me of the July 2025 flooding that killed the girls near Kerrville and a number of people out in western Travis and Williamson County.

Yes, it hasn't hit Travis/Wilco with big amounts yet, but this should give you an idea of what could happen.

Venus and Jupiter should be very bright tonight. They will set fairly soon after it gets dark.

Look low in the west. Venus should be the brightest thing other than the moon. Jupiter below and to the right.

You MIGHT be able to see Mercury a bit below Jupiter, but you'll need a dark spot, clear air, and good eyes.

[SERIOUS] Look out for flooding, especially water over the roads. Turn Around Don't Drown.

There has been a seriously scary amount of rain, especially the north end of Austin. It will be flooding in the next few hours.

I'll be surprised if someone doesn't drown in this event.

NWS info to follow.

04:18 Low water crossings are starting to flood.

atxfloods.com is one source, but be careful for any low water spots.

  • edit - 11 AM GrackSummary®

Well, we lucked out here. There was enough accumulated rainfall in a lot of spots to cause some serious flooding. I'm guessing it was spaced out well enough to not get any big crests.

I consider this one of our Russian Roulette weather events. 5 out of 6 times, nothing happens.

Looks like the PDF for the 2026 Escape PHEV IS available

Previous thread failed to find the manual in PDF form.

Mr. Google found it for me today, and it appears to include the 2026 Escape and it covers the PHEV.

I still find it strange that the manual doesn't actually say it's for the 2026 models on the cover/title page, but it seems like none of the manuals list the year. It does mention a few 2026 in few places.

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/CG3994en-202507-20260205102701.pdf

Apparently, Ford read my post and decided to publish the 2026 PDF.

Has anyone found a PDF manual for the 2026 Escape?

I know Ford has an online manual, but it's online only. I want an electronic manual I can access without an internet connection. Or if the vehicle display is dead.

I know you can usually download the HTML from a web page, but Ford designed the web page badly, and it gets into things that won't work offline. Even "web page complete" doesn't work. You only get the top two levels of the titles.

I'm considering a 2026 Escape PHEV, and not having a PDF manual is a big thing to me.

I know someone found a 2024 PDF online, but I couldn't maneuver from there to a 2026 PDF.
