I noticed this while draining the water, im not sure if this was like this when full
I made this contraption with an airline tube and suction cups, woudl this be enough to stop the spread and keep it on the right side. I was thinking somthing like water spangles or water lettuce.
I have a 40 gallon breeder tank, my air pump is currently pumping air into 4 sponge filters, I need either a new pump that can switch over to battery during an outage, or just a battery powered backup I manually attach. I'm looking for somthing that isn't crazy expensive maybe like $40-$50 at most if that's possible. What I like about my current pump is there is 4 outlets for all 4 sponge filters without using a splitter, but I know that can get expensive. I know there's super cheap options like the Marina Battery-Operated Air Pump but my understanding is that wont be powerful enough for my tank, correct?
One of my ranchu goldfish has had severe swim bladder issues, I beilive all of this was caused because I made of the terrible mistake of feeding them generic flakes from petco which I now know is the worst possible kind and creates all sorts of internal issues, I have already switched to a sinking gel based food(rephasy super gold). He hasn't been able to swim in well over 2 weeks, he just shifts around on the bottom of the tank. I've tried everything to try and help recover but he is still unable to swim at all, he still remains upright in a natural position but cant lift off the bottom. He also cannot eat by himself I have hand feed him in order for him to get food in his mouth. Is euthanizing the morally right thing to do? I still want to see if he improves in anyway, is it even possible to recover at this point? Hes relatively active but dosent move too much, he propels himself with his tail to move around the bottom, ive seen him lift off for like a split second but thats it.

I have two fancy goldfish in a long-established 40 gallon breeder (parameters normal/stable). One is a ranchu and the other is a ryukin.
The ranchu suddenly developed severe swim bladder/buoyancy issues. He was:
-stuck floating at the top
-sideways and unable to orient properly
-could only swim sideways
-I initially thought food/constipation might be involved, so I;
-fasted him.
-gave peas.
-tried medication (didn’t seem to help).
-then isolated him in a breeder box for about 48 hours without food.
During the move out of the isolation box, the suction cup suddenly popped loose and shook him pretty hard accidentally. After that he seemed extremely weak and bottom-bound, almost unable to swim.
Now current ranchu condition:
-upright, not rolling
-sits belly-flat on substrate
-shifts/moves around but struggles to swim upward
-Can briefly lifted off the bottom for like a second.
-seems to have slightly more energy/desire to move around
-passed green poop after fasting/peas (very thin with one thicker section)
-scales have always naturally stuck out a little his whole life, so I’m unsure if this is true pineconing/dropsy or just normal for him. Im pretty certain its not dropsy.
-no obvious redness/ulcers
occasionally seems to pause gill movement briefly while resting
The ryukin separately developed red bacterial-looking marks/streaking and swim bladder problems. I started Kanaplex in the water first, but now I’m feeding medicated food instead.
Ryukin progression:
-was upside down at one point
-now mostly on his side
-still active/swimming around
-still responsive
I dont know what else to do for them, I made sure theres plenty of aeration. There both making slow progress, but im more concerned about the ranchu. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? All the water parameters are good and normal. I think my food is bad quality and started the issues for my ranchu.
