Vegan pizza? Lox bagels? Mai Tais, Martinis, and Manhattans cocktails? Sushi? Souflee pancakes? Hopeful 🤷‍♀️

Moving from NY, in August but coming out next weekend… looking to see where I might find some things that are part of our regular lifestyle. I realize much of what I love about home won’t be available in the Ogden area but hoping? Maybe some is available in SLC… but the vegan pizza thing would be awesome…

Cultivating a culture of respect and appreciation for “bugs” in young folx.

Any thoughts on cultures that have an innate respect and appreciation for “bugs”? Or maybe countries outside of the USA, that have early learning in school about their importance and role in the world?

I observe in some “bugs” the kind of intelligence seen in more “respected” —by the masses — life forms like mammals. Jumping spiders come to mind.

Witnessing children in their innocence crushing killing or torturing these life forms rips at my heart. Seeing an adult human step on an ant outdoors, or kill a crane fly in ignorance that it’s a giant mosquito saddens and angers me deeply.

I would be amazing to have a movement of teaching and gaining empathy, understanding and appreciation in primary school, for these small life forms that have a right to live along with us. …

What makes people grow up to hate, fear, and want to destroy these tiny beings… like crush a clicking beetle or spider or house centipede in a building vs taking it outside?

Vet for two senior dogs, and questions on pricing.

I’m moving to the Ogden area soon. I’d like to set up appointment with a new vet for my 13 and 14 year old pups. Both mutts about 60lbs

My girl gets Librella for arthritis each month. Anyone get this for their pups? What are you paying now. Currently I’m at $185 per shot/ visit with a vet tech.

What is the going rate in the area for doggy dental cleaning.

Which vets have 24 hour emergency and any recommendations for practices that have veterinary internists and orthopedic specialists?

Currently I have a regular vet, and specialists that I drive further for, and a 24 hour emergency vet that lets you visit anytime and spend time with your pet if they need to stay overnight.

Mountain Lions, is this really a concern in Ogden?

Looking for a place to live in Ogden area and gotten some great advice so far here. Is there a genuine risk of mountain lions attacking dogs in a fenced back yard? Do people lock their doggy doors at night? How about scorpions? Coming from NY suburbs.

Moving to Ogden area from NY metro area suburbs for ATP School w/ 2 Dogs.

Couple with two dogs moving to Ogden area. We live 45 minutes from Manhattan, in the suburbs. Been to Ogden area only for a day this past winter. Looking to rent a 3-4 bed house with fenced yard and 2 car garage. Having trouble figuring out where will be best. Looking for 15 minutes-ish or less to Ogden Hinckley airport. My lifestyle now is 1 mile to multiple grocery stores and restaurants nearby, and one mile drive to a little hiking and 4 miles to a large state park for more hiking with many lakes.

As a couple we are into a mix of things ski/ snowboard, hiking, back-country camping, ice skating, roller skating, road biking, downhill mt bike, board games. We might look into new hobbies like target or skeet shooting or archery, fly fishing western horse riding.

Trying to determine whether of we will like West Haven, Roy, Hooper areas, vs living on the Bench. Ogden on the bench is so pretty but the houses for rent that allow dogs almost never have real garages and just car-ports, and a lot of the homes have small windows.

Moving west id like to have it all, including a view of the mountains because I work remotely and some days don’t drive a lot.

Hoping to stay away from dogfood factory smells, and in neighborhoods that are more chill. My house now is at like 59 decibels. Looking to have quiet when sleeping, vs blaring music blasting from cars at 3am… but still want to be close to grocery stores…

Where might it be better to live?

Also, do people feel like it is a long drive say from North Ogden to Roy? Or West Haven? Thinking about making friends in the area, it’s relative… like for me, I hate driving an hour and 15 minutes to the middle of Brooklyn to do fun things it feels like a PIA, but driving an hour north of me to visit friends feels easy… would it be normal to stop by a friends in North Ogden if you lived in say West Haven or Clearfield or Roy? Of does that seem relatively far? Trying to figure out building a new social network of friends.
