Which restaurants on the island have their own coffee roasted for them locally?

It's our last day here and this is something I love to try. Thanks!

Spending a few nights on Mackinac Island... did I make the wrong choice?

I booked our family vacation here this summer because we've never been and it's within driving distance. I reserved 4 nights, over the 4th of July Holiday. I realize there may be crowds during the day, but I thought it might be a great place to see fireworks. The photos online look so beautiful!

I hopped onto Reddit to get some ideas and start planning our activities but I'm seeing so much negativity about "tourist traps" and "horse crap" and everything's overpriced etc etc etc. Is it really that bad? How do we make the most of our stay? We generally like to enjoy beautiful outdoor scenery, unique experiences and good food. We prefer to "live like the locals" wherever we're vacationing and we appreciate what it takes to make a tourist destination work, as I've lived in multiple! We aren't really going somewhere to buy t shirts and fudge, though I don't hate fudge lol.

So how does one plan an immersive and memorable multi day experience on Mackinac?

Also, If we decide to leave the Island for a day and come back at night, where are some nearby excursions worth checking out?

I'd appreciate any insight so I can make the best of the trip for my family. We will have fun no matter what, but any tips would be great!
