Asbestos glue?

Asbestos glue?

Hello everyone, i know i would probably need a test for this but i was just wondering if they even used asbestos in glue to hold down stair treads. Popping mine off and discovered this black substance, its hard and has a dull appearance. 1979 USA- mn

Small bathroom demo asbestos testing areas

Hello everyone i have a question for y’all,

I bought a home two years ago that was built in 1979 (USA-MN) , i have three showers and two of those showers have walls with visible cracks in the grout.

i was able to pull some of the tiles off the wall to find what appears to be extensive water damage. I plan on redoing the tiles and putting actual cement board instead of what i assume is dry wall in the shower surround.

I only plan on doing this so far because i don’t think id like to do a full remodel. Im mainly concerned about asbestos considering the age of my home. What would be some good spots to test and how should i go about it? So far ive heard it can be in dry wall, the tape and mud, also on grout and the adhesive for the tiles, is there something im not accounting for as well? Should i even be worried?

Any guidance is appreciated :)
