Stopped dead by auto stop
Ok, that was terrifying!!!😳
Stuck in traffic in the left lane on the Merritt Pkwy in NY (IYKYK). Car turns off, starts a screaming ear piercing alarm and shows the message “auto stop is off;shift to P or N and start car manually”. Huh? Ok. We do that. Car makes weak attempt to start and redisplays the message. We try again. Same. Again x 20. Nothing. Google is not helpful. Screaming continues. Traffic mercifully going around us. Panic escalating.
Finally called the dealer and got the service center. They have no additional solutions. Never heard of this. As we sign off, he says you can try opening the driver’s door to reset the system if you want to.
Hallelujah! The car restarts and we rejoin the traffic. I hope no one was injured in the nasty accident that caused the traffic jam, but it probably saved us from getting rear ended as we were sitting ducks.
Anyone have this experience or suggestions on how to avoid it in the future???
