Every time I listen to this, I’m reminded by how much of an utter masterpiece it is. This is how you do a gritty, mature, twisted Who story. Collings gives an absolutely stunning performance as the Doctor, it genuinely makes me wish we had more of him in the part. Warner may be THE Unbound Doctor and I love his incarnation dearly, but Collings lurks at his shoulder very closely. Aside from him; the non-linear storytelling, the twists, the score, the atmosphere… It’s utterly sensational.

If you’ve not heard this, I’d so seriously recommend it, but prepare yourself for something deeply dark and strange. I really don’t think this story gets the flowers it deserves.

Doctor Who

I’ll be forever thankful that the BBC decided to renew Doctor Who in 1990 with Nicholas Lyndhurst coming in as the Eighth Doctor. Honestly, we’ve had such a solid lineup of Doctors, it’s one of the most consistently brilliant shows ever.

Benny Reccomendations

Hi all! I really love the Bernice Summerfield character and want to explore some of her earlier stuff as I’m mostly familiar with The New Adventures of, so was wondering if anyone had any recs for the standalone-ish stories, anything up to Epoch?

Edit: I should mention, I own the entire New Adventures of range and both Story So Far sets, and I’ve listened to Oh No It Isn’t.

Eight and Charley, Early Big Finish, and my Next Steps

So, I've just finished listening through to all of Eight and Charley's original run from Storm Warning to Zagreus, and it was outstanding! There's seriously something about early Big Finish that I just love!

Now that that's over, I'm so tempted to get my teeth into some more of the classic back catalogue and here are my options so far.

  1. Start with Seven, Ace and Hex with The Harvest and pick up that story thread.
  2. Start the Gallifrey series? I've heard good things.
  3. Do a few stories with Five, Peri and Erimem. I listened to The Kingmaker earlier this year and adored it so looking to find some more of that.

I'm open to any and all suggestions!

EDIT: Thanks so much for all your suggestions so far! I think I’ll definitely keep going with Eight and Charley and see where we go from there! I listened to the first full run of Six and Evelyn a few years ago and loved that, so may dip my toes in beyond Project: Lazarus! As for Hex’s story and Gallifrey, they’re going on the list for a bit later down the line, but they’ll definitely be sometime in the not too distant future.

Wondering if any of you would recommend picking up the original UNIT series with Nick Courtney and Siri O'Neal in the UNIT sale? I've previously heard good things and am currently really enjoying lots of old BF but thought I'd ask for a general consensus.
