Sao Luis to Fortaleza?

My wife and I are in Rio now and will head to Ilha Grande and Paraty for a week before flying to the northern coast for a week. We already have a flight from Fortaleza back to the US on June 19th.

Our original plan was to fly to Sao Luis and make our way toward Fortaleza, stopping in Barreirinhas and the national park, Jeri, etc., but now that we’re looking at the logistics, this doesn’t seem possible or easy with public transportation or private transfers. We don’t want to rent a car.

Has anyone done this? Is there a way to figure it out without excessive travel time? Or should we fly directly into Fortaleza and just explore that area for a week? Open to suggestions.

Leg Vein

47m, 6’2’’, 170 lbs, drink too much but only wine in evening, Adderall for ADD.

So my leg is obviously jacked up - the scar and indentation is from from surgery to remove a fibro/osteosarcoma from my left distal femur when I was 18, followed by a year of chemo and a month of radiation on the site.

Nonetheless I’ve run a couple marathons on it and walk/hike a lot. Recently that bubble formed and I just figured it’s a matter of getting old/varicose veins. Yesterday I climbed a small mountain and the descent was brutal - a 30% grade for 3 miles. Today I noticed that the area around was tender when I touched it (but the whole scar area always hurts after runs and long hikes)and the bump is slightly hard. I walked another 10+ miles today and felt fine.

I have great insurance and have an appointment for a checkup in early August. I’d move the appointment up but I’m currently in the Dominican and will then go to Paraguay and Brazil till late July. Is this something I should get checked out before August?

I’ll be in Paraguay for about two weeks in late June. I love walking, nature, hitching rides, and non-touristy places.

Is it worth it to go all the way up to the Chaco region or should I stick with my initial plan of hiking throughout the southeast?

I’ve already been to Iguazu.
