Moving to Frankfurt for the Summer
hi,
i’m a college aged guy from NYC moving to frankfurt for a summer. trying to find ways to meet new friends in the city. any advice? where do local (trying to separate from the tourist crowd as i am here for a longer stay) people around my age actually go? what’s the social scene like for younger ppl?
one idea i’ve had is to go to an english language exchange. i know some basic german (A1 maybe A2 leveled). i was thinking to find some people trying to learn english and they could in return accelerate my german too. what are your thoughts there?
i also heard that sachsenhausen especially is the social and more local neighborhood. and also people tend to just go to the south side of the Main to relax and socialize.
lastly, how bad is the entire stigma of frankfurt being a dangerous trashy and drug heavy city? i’m from NY so it can’t get much messier than that right? i just know ppl openly smoke crack and if i just follow my basic NY instincts i should be fine?
overall just trying to find some new ppl and integrate into a new city.
